We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Matthews Brett Hazard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean Matthews, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
L.A. is full of amazing restaurants, bars and beaches. I’d start with breakfast at La Pain or the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills. Then check out some hiking trails throughout the city and or Malibu. L.A. is also known for its incredible real estate so we would suggest driving through the streets of Bel Air, Holmby Hills and Trousdale Estates, to see some of the incredible properties the city has to offer.

Right now one of our favorite properties is located at 3255 Canyon Lake Dr. in the Hollywood Hills. It’s a beautifully designed modern home set in the highly coveted Lake Hollywood Estates. The house features views of the Hollywood Sign and Lake Hollywood. Before ending the night, I would head to Elephante, one of Santa Monica’s newest restaurants, to get an amazing dinner in a fun and lively atmosphere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Brett wanted to dedicate this section to his late mentor, Ralph Suarez.

I owe everything to my late mentor, Ralph Suarez. During the height of Ralph’s career, recognized by Forbes as one of the Top 300 Realtors, nationally; Ralph gave me just the slightest opportunity as a kid in high school and I somehow was able to recognize the long term benefit of creating a real relationship with Ralph. From hosting open houses in the middle of nowhere, running mindless errands, then eventually graduating to a partner position on Listings – to later partnering on different business ventures & Real Estate Investments.

I attached myself to Ralph whenever and wherever I could. Ralph taught me to seize all opportunities (even if they are dead ends) and to have fun regardless of the outcome. Fast forward to representing over $100,000,000 in Real Estate transactions, investing as a principle in countless Real Estate Investments, Developing ground-up construction of Multi-Million Dollar homes & New Construction Apartment Buildings.

In life you are gifted your name; in your career your reputation is everything — My relationships with my clients are far more important than any transaction will ever be. For that reason I care for my clients investments as they are my my own; but it is rare that I am not trying to laugh and have fun in the meantime. Ralph was taken from this world far too young, but his name will live on and a large portion of the success at Hazard | Matthews Group is owed to Ralph for gifting a kid a chance.
