We had the good fortune of connecting with Selina (Caddy) Pack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Selina (Caddy), how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Back when I was in school I felt like I had more time for music. After I started working that changed a bit. But to me it’s important to find a good balance between both and I do think I am able to manage that pretty well so far. It’s also important for me not to To be negatively influenced by one or the other. For instance if I had a really stressful workday I would not be able to sit down and write a song as it would influence the outcome of the song in a negative way. I need alot of energy, good vibes and motivation to create something great!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started writing my own songs when I was 14. Today I have experience of almost 16 years and have been able to grow and develop in many ways. I was thankful to be the opening act or work for many major artists such as Young M.A, Soulja Boy, Waka Flocka, Kid Ink, Ace Hood and more. It was definitely never easy especially being a female rapper from Germany in an industry thats male dominated and where most females sell a sexual brand/ identity which is not my aim at all. But I kept going until this day and after all these years of openings, competitions, even TV shows and castings I finally found who I am also musically. I’ve learned that it’s important to follow your dreams! If it fulfills you don’t let it go and keep striving! Believing in yourself is one of the most important things of all. I would like the world to know that behind my music, it’s only me. Noone writes my songs, noone picks the beats or gives me a topic. My songs are 100% chosen, written, recorded by myself and they are for everyone who can feel the music or identify with it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the TV/ Skyline Tower in Mannheim. It’s a 715 feet high tower that has a restaurant inside it. The outside walls are completely made of windows from the ceiling to the floor and every 10-15 min it turns slowly so you have a full 360 view over the whole city and further out! It has another level above the restaurant thats an observation deck. On another day we would go to the city I was born in, Heidelberg to visit the old town the Neckar river and the castle. Germany has a lot of old history and castles! In Heidelberg a cable railway can take you up to the castle from where you again have the most beautiful view over everything! Those are both in my area but if we’d go some place further I would go to Frankfurt. It’s very urban and you could call it Germany’s New York City. I would say my friends are the most exciting people to hang out with and they are spread all across the country. From Berlin to Stuttgart to Hamburg to Cologne! They are artists, skaters, models, rappers, singers, audio engineers, photographers and overall amazing people! We could see the different cities and by visiting them it would never get boring!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My partner Katrell at Tru Brilliance Entertainment who Introduced me to Shoutout Interviews. I have worked with him as a partner and friend for many years and am thankful he has been such a support in my career!
Also a huge Shoutout to the music label Vinyl Digital, who has given me the chance to work with them! Having them publish my music is a big honor to me!
