Meet Sergei Steeke | Mural artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sergei Steeke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sergei, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My work is all about transformation—both for businesses and for the people who experience my art. I help businesses create a unique visual identity that not only sets them apart but also attracts customers by making their spaces more engaging and memorable. A well-designed mural or piece of artwork can turn a regular storefront, café, or creative space into a destination, sparking conversations and drawing people in.
But beyond that, my mission is to share positivity through art. I believe that a city’s walls, just like its streets, should have energy, personality, and soul. My goal is to create work that brings joy, inspiration, and a reminder to enjoy the moment. Life moves fast, and we often get caught up in the rush—if my art can make someone stop, smile, and feel something real, then I’ve done my job.
Art has the power to shape environments, change moods, and bring people together. Whether I’m painting a mural for a business, creating a piece that speaks to a community, or simply adding color to an otherwise dull space, I see it as a way to give back. The world needs more creativity, more self-expression, and more moments of presence—and that’s exactly what I aim to contribute.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been through a long and difficult journey. When you don’t receive much love growing up, it can be hard to make the right choices in life. Art became my escape and my therapy.
But! I keep moving forward, and that’s what sets me apart—my art serves people. I share positivity and motivation with everyone. I believe that anything is possible, and I express that belief through my work.
What I’m most proud of is that I never gave up. Now, I receive messages from people telling me how my art has helped them, and that is my ultimate goal—to make someone’s day a little brighter, even for a moment.
My story is just beginning, and I will share it with the world step by step. But what I truly want people to understand is that we all have the power to achieve whatever we set our minds to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, that’s a great question! Echo Park—I love this place. It makes me feel like a tourist in my own city and lets me truly enjoy the moment.
I’d also explore different parts of Downtown, grab some ramen in Little Tokyo, go for a hike, and visit the Griffith Observatory. Of course, Santa Monica Pier, the Venice Canals, and the overlook in Studio City are must-sees too.
I’d also take a trip outside the city to show some beautiful natural spots—contrasts are important, and I’d definitely focus more on nature rather than just restaurants and shops.
But… I’d still make a quick stop at Rodeo Drive, of course!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course, I’m grateful to everyone who supports me in what I do because I grew up in difficult conditions—no one believed in me, supported me, or encouraged me. In fact, many tried to talk me out of pursuing art.
A special shoutout to my team, TGL (The Good Life)—I’m incredibly thankful for everything they’ve done. They helped me ease into the LA art community, which meant a lot since I’m originally from Russia, and adjusting here wasn’t easy at first.
I also draw inspiration from many people around the world—not just artists, but also athletes, musicians, actors, inventors, and scientists. I admire those who make a meaningful impact, and I strive to do the same.
