We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Daneshrad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shannon, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Century Psychology Group strives to create a positive social impact by providing accessible, high-quality mental health services that support the emotional well-being of individuals and families in our community. Our practice is dedicated to addressing mental health concerns through culturally competent care, fostering resilience, and promoting personal growth. We collaborate with local organizations, universities, and community centers, extending our services to groups that may have limited access to mental health support.

Additionally, by raising awareness on topics like trauma, behavioral health, and mental wellness, Century Psychology Group helps to reduce stigma around seeking therapy. Through our blog, outreach efforts, and emerging podcast, we aim to educate and engage the public in understanding mental health, empowering them to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Century Psychology Group, we’re dedicated to creating a space where people feel truly seen, understood, and supported. What sets us apart is our commitment to blending high-quality, evidence-based therapy with a personal, culturally-sensitive approach. We recognize that mental health isn’t a one-size-fits-all process; each client’s story is unique, so we tailor our care to meet individuals exactly where they are.

Building Century Psychology Group has been incredibly rewarding, but it certainly didn’t come without challenges. Starting my own practice meant leaving the comfort of a group practice, taking risks, and learning how to navigate the business side of healthcare while staying committed to my passion for clinical work. Early on, I had to overcome a lot of self-doubt and the challenge of balancing growth with quality. But each difficulty taught me resilience, focus, and the importance of embracing change.

One of the lessons I’m most grateful for is understanding the power of a supportive community—clients, colleagues, mentors, and even the network of local organizations we collaborate with. These connections not only enrich our practice but help us expand our reach to those who need it most.

For me, Century Psychology Group is a reflection of my belief that everyone deserves access to compassionate, comprehensive mental health care. I want the world to know that we’re here to support growth and healing in whatever form it takes, and that our doors are open to all who seek guidance and support on their journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles for a week, I’d create an unforgettable itinerary that highlights the city’s charm. We’d start Day 1 in Beverly Hills with breakfast at The Ivy, enjoying the classic LA glam before exploring Rodeo Drive’s luxurious boutiques. In the afternoon, we’d head to Santa Monica to catch the sunset at the beach, followed by dinner at Elephante, which offers fantastic views and a lively atmosphere.

On Day 2, we’d grab coffee at Alfred Coffee on Melrose before hiking up to Griffith Observatory for breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Afterward, we’d enjoy a delicious dinner at Pizzeria Mozza, known for its mouthwatering pizzas. Day 3 would be a day trip to Malibu, starting with breakfast at Malibu Farm Café on the pier, where we could soak up the coastal vibe. We’d spend the day lounging on the beach and perhaps exploring the scenic beauty of the Malibu coastline.

Throughout the week, we’d check out iconic landmarks, indulge in diverse dining experiences, and enjoy LA’s vibrant culture, making memories that we’d cherish forever.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to all the mental health professionals out there who tirelessly commit themselves to supporting others through life’s toughest moments. They are the quiet heroes behind the scenes, showing up every day with empathy, resilience, and dedication, often carrying a piece of each client’s journey with them. It’s inspiring to see therapists, counselors, psychologists, social workers, and so many others putting in the work, not only to support individuals but to advance awareness and break down the stigma around mental health.

I also want to thank my mentors and colleagues who have been invaluable guides on my own journey, sharing wisdom and encouragement, and inspiring me to keep growing and learning in this field. It’s a privilege to work alongside so many compassionate, brilliant minds in a profession that truly makes a difference. To each of them—this one’s for you!
