We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shannon, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was adopted by an American family from an orphanage in Seoul, Korea. My childhood was filled with emotional instability, which led me to develop my natural gift of intuition at a young age to stay safe. I moved to Los Angeles from Michigan in my early 20’s and worked as a freelance hairstylist for 20 years. Over the course of my career my natural ability to read energy that I honed as a child allowed me to connect authentically with clients and build a successful business. I’m now a Board-Certified Hypnotherapist, using the skills developed over my life to help women discover and activate their natural gifts.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve worked as a freelance hairstylist for over 20 years in Los Angeles, and I’ve now transitioned my business into Hypnotherapy and Online Courses working exclusively with women. What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect in a way that makes my clients feel seen and heard. The most challenging part of my career over the years was understanding how to manage and prioritize my energy. In the beginning, I felt drained and exhausted at the end of each day and as I understood how energy works and practiced these skills, I felt happier and more vibrant. This also gave me clarity on how to curate my clientele based on how I wanted to feel and who I wanted to spend my time with.  I’m now teaching others how to do this for themselves.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that the experience of having a haircut or having a hypnotherapy session are both opportunities to shift your frequency. Although externally it may seem that these careers are quite different, I’m doing a lot of the same things which are, connecting, communicating authentically, establishing a goal, creating a plan and then guiding you to discover yourself along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to connect with nature, one of my favorite hikes is Solstice Canyon in Malibu. I live across from the ocean and it’s my favorite place to be.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to Cynthia Morgan, Spiritual Teacher and Hypnotherapist. She has had a huge impact on my healing and personal growth journey.  This changed the course of my life and inspired me to change careers. I consider her a close friend and mentor and am so grateful for her support and guidance.
