We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherraya Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherraya, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think this is a question we all ask ourselves. But what is the true answer? Is there a true answer? I would like to believe that we all get to a point when we look at ourselves in the mirror and throw our hands up. But there’s a little spark that is left that allows you to believe that you can achieve what you initially set out to achieve. You start to reevaluate every step you took to get where you are today: What you had to sacrifice, your ups and your downs, the late nights and early mornings, not hanging out with friends and at times pushing your family’s needs to the side. But that spark keeps you fighting through it all because what fuels you is the fact, you’re aware of what you’re doing and who you are doing it for. There is always a method to the madness. Even when things look bleak, something will ignite your spirit and innately keep you going to deflect the idea of giving up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think I’m most proud of overcoming the obstacles and the losses I took along the way. I know its redundant to say but I look at everything I’ve been through and at any time I could have quit. But what I’ve realized is what’s got me here is my ability to PERSERVERE. Everything in life isn’t easy because if it was everybody would succeed at it. Overcoming the challenges took a lot of patience and focus. At certain points, I had to take the time to slow down, process what I had to do then proceed. But the best lesson I’ve learned is that every day is a new day. A new day for opportunity, a new day for knowledge, a new day for purpose and another day to secure peace. I want the world to know my brand is something that came from the heart. I’ve always had a passion to serve, I was just unsure to what capacity. When I started my brand, it was initially to serve myself, but after 2 years it’s transformed to a brand that serves ALL. Whether its skincare for men or beauty products or services for the ladies the goal is having something for everybody.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to be everywhere. The city has so much to offer, whether you’re an introvert or have that loud and proud personality. Weekdays at the beach are always fun because there’s nobody there. Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach have a special place in my heart and there’s a cool sense of culture. I love LACMA for weekday adventures as well. There’s nothing like getting lost in a museum Night life is always great here in the city. When looking for a sophisticated place to eat, I love 71Above. It has such a great view of the city and a great vibe. Tao is among my favorite too. When it comes to hanging out, LA Live is the place to be. From Lucky Strike to all of the bars, LA Live is a great place to meet people and be social.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes absolutely!!!! I want to dedicate my shoutout to all of my babies. Jaeden, Malakai, Dylan & Kyrie. It’s little reminders from them that show me I’m doing a good job. The nights where it gets late, my daughters help with organizing my bags, cleaning my brushes and putting products away. My oldest son, his words do it for me every time. They’ve traveled with me and worked with me. I know at the end of the day I can count on my kids.
