We had the good fortune of connecting with Shikha Thapa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shikha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had a passion for creativity and love for dance. My mom said when I was a kid, no one had to ask me to go to the dance floor, I would get up, go to the dance floor and start dancing as soon as music started. I had been working in a corporate environment for 6 years and I was very unhappy. I would be at work, miserable every day. When I went downhill with depression, I made a decision and quit my job. I knew following my passion to serve in dance and fitness area would make me happy. I took the risk to open my business even though a lot of people insisted that there is no money to be made in a studio business, including my parents. I went against all odds. My only thought process behind starting my business was to live happier like and serve with passion, love and integrity. I am so happy I made that decision 4 years ago.
What should our readers know about your business?
Starting a business is not easy at all. It can be very challenging. For me, I started my business with very little savings. I had few dollars but a huge passion to follow my dreams of serving and helping others. I knew that health and wellness was my passion and i just simply followed my heart. What really sets my business apart is that, I create a wholesome life. My fitness training is not a typical weight loss, kill yourself type of training. It’s not just about getting a diet regimen to lose several pounds. It’s a holistic approach to live a wholesome life. Which local studio can you go and get “all in one” support? I serve my clients with the highest gratitude and guide them to live authentically. I incorporate workout routine, a well balanced diet based on their energy, energy healing to see where they need mental help, therapy, yoga, meditation, and intuitive guidance. Running a business in is very challenging in every way. The way I overcome it each day is by simply living in gratitude and trusting that the universe always has my back. I truly believe that I am guided to do this. For me, this is not a business, its a way of life. I want the world to know that “if I die tomorrow, just know that I died happy because when I started my brand, I wanted to truly serve and change at least one person’s life for better. Now, that I feel like I have helped several lives, I feel very happy. ”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OMG! If my best friend comes to the town, I would first hang out at home reminiscing all the old memories. We would chat our hearts out and than go to the beach. I am a huge beach lover and I love the vibes of Venice beach, CA. We would dance in the drum circle, hit the books and crystal stores, ride a bike, and eat some amazing vegan food near the beach. I am vegan and most of my friends are too. Hiking would be the next day. My best friend loves museums so I know she would love Griffith observatory. I would take her to film festivals, yoga and sound bath events, perhaps even drive up to Las Vegas. One of my favorite restaurant is Sage Vegan bistro in the city, and Sunday brunch is a must.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my amazing clients who believed in me and trusted me, to my mentor Tony Robbins who inspires me till this day. I have been to many Tony Robbins’ seminars and it has been life changing, to my healer who gave me a wonderful gift of reiki and to my friends who supported me financially and mentally when I was ready to give up , to every one who supported me throughout the journey.. I couldn’t have done it alone.
