Meet SiMitrē | Artist & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with SiMitrē and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SiMitrē, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, and happy” -Charles Haanel This affirmation reminds me of the limitless potential of the soul. I use it as a way to manifest a desired state of being in any moment. It’s such a powerful and useful tool for me to presence myself within my day no matter what is going on.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When it comes down to it, I really just want people to feel something when they see or hear something I create. I believe that music is the most efficient way to make change in the world on a physical, spiritual and molecular level, which is why I have chosen to pursue it professionally.I am super excited to finally get my debut album out. It’s been a long time coming, and I cant wait for everyone to absorb the visions.I believe I got to where I am today by having discipline in honing my talents, and being open to growth a development. It was a long road of many ups and downs. At my lowest point, I almost lost myself in my own thoughts and ended it all, but I was able to bring myself out of dark spaces with the help of mentors, and personal development work. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is patience. At least for me, turns out everything happens when it’s supposed to. We all came from the same place and our experiences are connected to one whole. This is what I hope people get from my music, and feel whenever they’re exposed to my expressions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places to eat are: Crab Avenue in Glendale, Castaway in Burbank, Inn of the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon, and Salsa & Beer in North Hollywood. The best restaurant I’ve ever been to though is called Providence in LA. It was the most incredible food and service I’ve ever experienced. My favorite things to do are: Wine tasting in Los Olivos & Solvang, weekend trip to Ojai and Topanga Canyon and just explore, shop at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, relax at the Wii Spa, and explore at the Griffith Observatory. A dope special attraction I did recently was “The Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience” which was an amazing and innovative experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first dedication would have to be my parents Alonzo and Tracie Edwards. Without their love and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Next is my cousin Booker Edwards. He’s a professor of music at Georgia State University. He taught me the fundamentals of producing, recording and studio gear, and also introduced me to my final shoutout, Troy Taylor. I was mentored by Troy Taylor, a hit-making record producer and artist developer. He showed me the in’s and outs of the music industry and how to hone my craft/artistry.
