We had the good fortune of connecting with Sitavy Thorng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sitavy, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor to the success of Meccha Matcha is quality. From the quality of our matcha to the quality of our team. We ensure that our standards are met and we can verify that by the positive feedback from our returning customers.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am currently running Meccha Matcha X Flourbar Bakery, all in one.

Meccha Matcha is a matcha-centric tea shop that offers the strongest matcha desserts and beverages in America. It was created by my cousin, Joseph Be, who opened the first store in Plano, Texas (2018). We were both obsessed with matcha, but found it difficult to find an establishment that offers pure and legit matcha; which is why Meccha Matcha is here today. Its since become run like a family business where we do everything ourselves like recipe development, social media content, research & development, etc. We offer three levels of matcha with Level 3 suited for those who are OBSESSED with matcha. Once a year, we offer Matcha Level 5 ice cream, which does come with a “warning label”! Although we are a matcha speciality shop, we do offer a variety of non-matcha items that will surely please anybody who walks through our doors.

I created Flourbar Bakery in 2015 because baking is a passion of mine. I first sold out of my home and became popular because of my cookies. Flourbar started off as a hobby I enjoyed on my free time but given the opportunity to bring my creations into Meccha Matcha, its since given a boost to the business since the pandemic. My culinary abilities have been re-ignited once again as I’ve developed a popular menu of matcha based desserts. I am known for my matcha chocolate chip cookies that are usually sold out daily, as well as the Matcha San Miruku Cake (aka matcha tres leches).

Its been an amazing journey for the past few years with a few hiccups along the way, aka the pandemic but we are starting to recover from 2020 and are excited for more growth this year. We have our loyal customers to thank for our continued success so stay tuned for an exciting announcement!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my sister/partner, my cousin/owner of Meccha Matcha, Joseph Be, and my boyfriend. Each has played a part in my personal growth and reminded how valuable I am. They each kept me sane and focused. They are the backbone to my success.

I also wanted to give credit to my amazing staff who helped made running Meccha Matcha, that much easier. They all have worked hard and I am entirely grateful for the amount of care they have for the brand, our product, and most importantly, our customers. Without them, Meccha Matcha wouldn’t be where it is today.

Of course, I can not forget several of my close friends who I hold dearly to my heart. Their support always brings a smile to my face and pushes me to move forward.
