We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sofia, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want people to feel inspired by me, I want them to know that anything is possible if you truly want it and dream it. If a girl from a small town in Mexico can make her dreams come true than so can anyone else. I want to represent the Latino community in the industry and open new paths for people like me. It’s hard coming from another country and trying to make your way into a new one, especially in the film industry. So I want people to know that it’s not impossible, I hope, haha.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve come a long way since I first moved to LA in 2021. Seeing that 18 year old girl and seeing me now, I just now she’s so proud of me. I would’ve never imagined myself working on a movie for Lifetime, getting to work on the CBS studio lot for a short film, or having a web series with 1024.2k likes? HELLO? I have gotten to meet so many incredible and talented people from all over the world that share the same love and passion towards art like me. And I hope I can continue doing what I love forever.
Here are some projects I’ve worked on and I’m really proud of:
“Don’t be Culty” (Feature Film) Lifetime
“Memento Mori” (Short Film) Director: Julio Cesar Flores
“Beyond the Glass” (Short Film) Director: Amanda Huang
“Fleur” (Short Film) Director: Emma Pine
“Alone” (Short Film) Director: Laura Vanessa Lopez
“Inadequacy” (Short Film) Director: Andres B. Gutierrez
“Alice” (Short Film) Director: Jace Sears
“Rebel in Devli’s Shackle” (Web Series) Reverse Clock Entertainment
“Scorpio Rising” (Music Video) Director: Antonio Palacios
“A Day In My Life” (Short Film) Director: Chase Towers
“Maggie” (Commercial) Director: Antonio Palacios
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s actually in my 2024 goals to explore the city more, and get to know it as more of a local than a tourist. There’s always the obvious choices like; Santa Monica Pier, The Hollywood sign hike, Walk of fame, Griffith Observatory, etc. And although those are pretty fun and cool places I like to do some pther stuff. I love me a good thrift market, whether it’s Los Feliz Flea Market on saturday or The Melrose Trading Post on Sunday, walking around seeing cool clothes and items and going for a bite later, or a matcha which I LOVE. My fav coffee place is, the coffee bean and tea leaf, basic but worth the hype. And for a bite I’m currently obsessed with the serrano sandwich fro Joe & the Juice. For shopping I like to go to the Americana at Brand in Glendale, or The Grove, which are basically the same haha. If you want a bigger shopping mall I’d recommend the Westfield in Century City. And last but not least, my favorite place Laguna Beach. It is my favorite beach, it is so beautiful and has a little gorgeous town filled with shops and restaurants, my perfect summer day is there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my family. Without them I truly wouldn’t be able to be where I am right now. They have always believed in me and cheered me on to do what I love. Without their support it would be much harder to keep hoping that one day I’ll achieve all my dreams. So thank you to my amazong family, LOS AMO!
