We had the good fortune of connecting with Soliél Lindsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soliél, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers. A friend of mine told me about this book at a meeting we were having. She had just decided to start a business and I was one of her first clients. She actually started the business because of this book! She had it with her so I skimmed through just a few pages and knew I needed my own copy. First, the book is written by a Black woman who is a millionaire. Second, the way that the book is written is very comprehensive and practical. It’s like the big sister I never had giving me advise – the kind that stops you in your tracks and makes you get your life together and you begin to believe in yourself! Hand down, this is a book that adds to the list of ones that changed my mindset around money and my natural born ability to make it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There are many brands that you can support as far as apparel goes. However, at Sol Rise Essentials, we offer unisex affirmation accessories and jewelry as well. Our brand also has a huge focus on global mental wellness. We have a monthly podcast (Sol Seat Conversations) where we share stories of resilience from around the world. The intent is to build community, connection and offer inspiration for new ways to thrive on people’s wellness and healing journeys. It’s been beautiful to watch so many strangers be inspired by one person’s bravery to find and share their voice and story on our platform.

I want the world to know that it’s possible to push past trauma and obstacles. One way to do that is through community and wellness resources. It’s not just about looking good in our merch – it’s about feeling well overall. No one should have to endure life or healing alone – the SolTribe family stands with you. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Forward Foundation. They are a non-profit organization based in Richmond, VA who made it possible for me to bootstrap my business. They assist single parents who have been affected by a personal crisis and offer support in many unthinkable ways! Their support during the building of my business has been insurmountable. I can’t forget about Chef Theresa Headen who introduced me to your magazine and who always encourages me in sisterhood and in business. You don’t meet people like her very often. I also want to acknowledge all supporters of Sol Rise Essentials, the SolTribe Family and in addition, Markeisha Harris-Minor, Terrence Blackwell, Tammie Mobley and most importantly God and my family. My immediate family have been there every step of the way. Although they may not know all that goes into building a business – they understand that I need emotional and physical support and that is invaluable!
