We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacey, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Choosing to thrive beyond cancer, divorce and depression with them by my side. While it was not an easy process, my 3 children were a significant part of my “why” for survival. It was important for me to see something/someone to live for when I didn’t have much joy in my life. They have been a part of the struggle and the striving beyond the struggle. Through this they have learned about resilience and self-reliance, unconditional love and the importance of self-care. They have also learned about our ability as human beings to create the life we want once we are intentional about our way of thinking and being in this world.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company Epic Transformation was birthed out of a desire to help women to live, love and lead well. We focus on supporting professionals in leading from a place of wellness by providing them with tools (methodologies for effective leadership) and services (coaching, therapy) that focus on HEALTHY productivity. This is an unusual angle, but I believe it is unnecessary to compromise our health in order to be successful; we just need to learn a different way.
Having worked in corporate for over 25 years, I have experienced being a workaholic, dealing with overwhelm, burnout, unconscious bias, toxic personal relationships and many other common experiences that women have. As a result I have also survived breast cancer, divorce and depression which created a desire in me to help other women avoid the mistakes I made. The lessons I learned came through my life collapsing around me, losing everything and finding myself and even after experiencing a chronic illness that I am continuously shadowed by, I still struggle with the addiction to working. The difference now is that I put my self-care before everything and everyone else and am building a pathway to living a life anchored in wellness.
It has not been easy to create a startup in the midst of working beyond full-time and being a full-time single mother of three children. However, I am very clear that this is my soul’s work and I have a passion about shifting the paradigm in this area of business.
We offer consultation on various productivity methodologies and also coaching for executives. Additionally I have created mental wellness support tools like Daily Intention Cards and journals for women and children as well as a podcast focused on work life balance for women. Although these are more focused on the wellness side, this is what I am most proud of because I believe as women we bring our whole selves to the office and how well we do that relies heavily on our mental, emotional and spiritual wellness.
As the desire to expand the female impact and presence in business increases, I believe we will need to shift the views of what success looks like to include more focus on wellness. Through the power of intention, which is a key focus of my brand, we can use our authentic power to create the life and business that we want. I serve as an example in my own story which I wrote about in my memoir 5 Year Love Affair.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to visit is the Santa Monica Pier. It’s a great way to escape to feeling connected to play or just have time with nature by finding a quiet spot to look out at the sea. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my life teachers. This includes the usual suspects, my parents, my children, my friends and adversaries along the way, my ex-husband and lovers and my now love partner. Most importantly though, my greatest life teacher thus far has been the life collapse I experienced in 2010 where all the things that created the tapestry of who I thought I was fell apart.
