We had the good fortune of connecting with Stage Antics and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stage, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Evander Suju: “I pursue an artistic career because I find a lot of meaning in finding my way through passion and going against the grain of the stereotypical ins and outs of daily life. I want to make a difference somehow but I never found it in the realm of school or conventional means so I find that music is an eternal expression of how we feel. Its timelessness has moved people for generations. I feel if I pursue that I will find my own way and happiness, and that’s what matters.”

Dalton Haegele: “I chose a creative career because I’d rather do something I enjoy rather than something I don’t.”

Brandon Garrison: “I find that life’s too short not to chase your passions. And because KISS is badass.”

Clay Gregg; “I don’t like sports too much…but I always thought music was pretty cool.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our music is an amalgam of dissonance, anger, apathy, and whatever other angst has driven art over the years. I guess we could say one thing that sets us apart is the different backgrounds we come from musically. For example, Brandon goes to school for music and has learned the ins and outs of theory whilst Evander has not much sense of the technicalities or nuance of the music… This comes together to create a unique sound in the melody section. Dalton is an experienced drummer in the genre so he acts as glue while Clay, our newest addition, adds a sense of maturity being the veteran of the band. As a band, we are proud of the sound we are creating.

It’s been pretty challenging given that information. It took us a while to mesh these differences and become a cohesive unit. We’re still working on it now, but it’s coming together.

An important lesson we learned has to be that loss doesn’t necessarily stump growth. We experienced this with our first drummer, who we appreciate greatly.

We want the world to hear us, so if we can say anything, go to a show and support the local music scenes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a close friend of ours was to visit, I would say a Stage Antics show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Parents, supporters, and anyone who has come to a show or helped us on our journey to be heard deserves recognition because they are the ones that spread the word.

As a band, we would also say that our photographer Jesse Beecher, who took the photos we’re sharing today, is a huge inspiration to us and deserves recognition as they create content that motivates us to continue.
