We had the good fortune of connecting with Stella Star and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stella, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was the decision to choose.

When you lose a parent, nothing really matters anymore. I know this sounds morbid, but I’ve always chosen to find the beauty in life.

I only make this choice,
because,

When I was nine all I knew at the time was my mom and dad and what they chose for me.

I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a pair of parents that despite everything, would always put my dreams above everything else.

My dad wanted me to be in sailing, swimming, Good Dog University, and junior lifeguards. A choice he only made because of his parent’s choice in the fifties to put their dreams aside and settle down in Costa Mesa. Just close enough to the border of the NMUSD school district so he could have the best education in sailing, swimming, music, and academics. Knowledge was always important to a family of artists and sailors.

My mom, on the other hand, wanted me in ballet, jazz, tap, karate, modeling, singing, sign language, multicultural activities, and Girl Scouts. You Guess it…I’ve been in it!

I can’t even blame her for wanting it all for me. She will have a feature film about her story one day… so I’ll save the details for later.
Plot synopses in one sentence or less:

WE OPEN at birth…
1960 orphaned,
adopted,
half orphaned,
full orphaned (again),
travel across the world,
homeless,
do it again,
New York,
travel the world (Madison
and 5th Avenue Marketing Queen)
California
Me…

So naturally, as two parents in their forties… in the early two-thousands…raising an only-child “miracle baby”… pre-recession…I was a one-stop shop for it all. I mean who could blame them I was “as cute as a rag doll” as Mike would say.

Nothing stopped when he died. I went to school on Tuesday as if nothing happened.

My principal, Ms. Pamela Coughlin, was best friends with my third-grade teacher Ms. Joan Duncan — you should look her up in the Daily Pilot 😉 —
So naturally at the Morning Pledge it was announced to all grade levels my dad had passed. No one knew much about me… except what I chose to share… until then.

In an instant, I had my first grapple with choice and fairness and death and financial crises and social interactions wrapped up with a little bow. It’s not a great way to announce the concept of death to children… and I can confidently tell you it didn’t help social interactions with nine-year-olds.

Since then I decided to choose…to embrace…being a social butterfly

because that is all I can do.

(most who know me would say I am stubborn and refuse to settle down)

At the time, that went hand in hand with choosing to talk about the topics I cared about to whoever listened.

I talked about…

School in school..

With teachers like Miss Ellie Smith, Miss. Cathy Blue, Mr. Sprek Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Kimberly Cantely, Mr. Dowsett Bachelor in History, Former Founder of the Integrated Arts Conservatory Heather Stafford, Former Assistant Director of Integrated Arts Angela Ryan, IA Creative Director Drew Boudreau, IA Creative Director Ms. Dawn Spranger, Mr. William Buchman, Señora Lyons, Professor James Nate Nichols PhD student at UCSB in Comparative Literature, OCSA Counselor Kara McCann, Ms. Sharon Browne B.S. & Masters of Social Studies, UCSB Counselor Joe O’Brien, Ms. Christine Karlberg B.S & Masters of Science, Mr. Ron Grimm B.S. M.A. Ms. Christine Allcorn B.S. Liberal Arts, Masters of Secondary Education, and OCSA Creative Director, Montage Director, and Chapman Professor Jamond McCoy.

I talked to educators who listened.

Singing at Melody Makers OC, MDI, and most all other Melanie Andrew’s affiliates,

Dance at Tiffany’s Dance Academy and wherever Miss. Hollis continues to teach at,

Sailing at BCYC,

Junior guards in junior guards, namely Mr. Pratt Leader of the C division, and OCSA Math teacher

I listened to other kids in these spaces
who would listen and share their uniquely similar experiences…

..I digress…

Looking back, it was not the best choice for a little kid wanting to be a kid… but a wonderful choice for a child scholar on the path to OCSA Integrated Arts Conservatory Valedictorian, UCSB scholarships (degrees pending), and owning the first

Women founded,
Gen Z founded,
Women owned and operated,
Media Agency

specializing in
Social Media (a registered S-Corporation by the way)

at age wise old age of
twenty years old.

This story wreaks of love,
hope,
head in the clouds,
little girl’s big dreams.

Wrapped up in

privilege,
complexity,
credit score fears
convulsions,
and cliffhangers…

But the message is
When you are as privileged as I am to come from a family of immigrants and others that were all as intelligent and humble enough, as they were, to compartmentalize their individual narratives…
All while remaining private about most of what they do in their personal lives…
All while historically helping the world by sacrificing themselves….

As a kid I gained a reputation for constantly boasting about them…with no proof.

When death has followed me since before I was born, and continues to linger into September 22nd, 2024 with Milton Stanley Grier– the last of the Grier’s last name on paper—

it is so easy for your world to stop turning.

When you’re raised on the water you learn very quickly you have two choices—

–sink or swim.

Everyone agrees drowning is a terrible way to go.

At five years old with all I knew…

…I decided that if I were to go I would go in peace.

I made peace with the water very quickly.

Girl Scouts taught me to appreciate the world around me.

My mom gave me the world,

OCSA refined it…

and every day I choose to believe in myself.

The world gets brighter every morning I make that choice,
and it gets easier to see at night
every evening I fall asleep.

As I finish this final draft while listening to a Neftlix musical on repeat… I’ll leave you with my final two cents no one asked for…

Find music you connect with.

Find one part of nature you find beautiful.

Play a sport that makes you happy, and play any game that sets your mind free.

Art, nature, and creativity are self-care.

It is a powerful choice to care about yourself even when your world stops turning.

Love You!

Stella Star 🙂

What should our readers know about your business?
Stella Star Studios Inc. is the first Media Agency, that I’m aware of, that specializes in Full-Range Social Media Specialization WITH full access to everything In-House. We admit Social Media is a science and we are not afraid to show off our Stellar Stars.

The team is comprised of Contracted Entities, Senior Directors, and C-Title roles. Our star talent and stellar team are spread throughout the country and in select international sectors. We offer remote and in-person specialists depending on what you need.

Stellar Stuff Aside…

…all this means– we got your back.

From projects to productions and a wide range of management tools, we take on little at a time with each client to do a lot for you. We cater to each team member, program, and partnership depending on your needs.

I created this business to give independent artists more freedom. Ever since I was two years old all I wanted to be, was a singer.

Along the way, I learned so much about the arts. I realized how little freedom artists truly have. The little girl in me will always want to make a change, and as I got older I decided to follow in my family’s footsteps and sacrifice my dreams (for now) to use my privilege on this earth to do something about it.

Roadblocks on the route of life taught me that I have to put myself first before I can put others first – or else it all crumbles.

You are constantly watching my “screwups” and “breakthroughs” with me as I choose to put it all on social media…

…for you all to study…

In Real Time…

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok for starters they have to be so honest about what they want to pack in a week-long trip for me to help them. You will not believe how many people want to travel from Burbank to Malibu to Universal Studios to the Walk of Fame to Santa Monica to Disneyland in under a week. Unless you have the stamina of a horse I don’t see you getting half of that done.

Just do your research. If you wanna go to Glendale that bad…morning in La Cañada for a hike…afternoon in Highland Park or the Fashion District for the shops.. and dinner in Glendale for the vibes. Get over yourself… California is a commuter state… and you’ll find incredible food in between every budget and every taste at every stop. Now you’ve seen about a fourth of LA in three stops or less and don’t forget to bring a stellar friend…or two 😉

That being said, I’d never send my stars on a mission alone unless a girl knows where she’s going. My favorite place has always been the Hardrock Cafe on the Walk of Fame because my mom used to take me there every time we were in LA. Whenever I get a chance to play tourist…Down Town is where it’s at. The museums and freaky stuff like axe throwing are within walking distance of the Walk of Fame, there’s good food, and the 110 and 115 freeways are the place to be if you want to see the Hollywood Billboards. I also heard they’ve got Lime scooters now and it’s so fun to zoom around town on those.

All of this said with love. Just be mindful please, I don’t want to see you get hurt <3
