We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was very hesitant at first. I was in a space where I honestly had very little to no capital to invest in a business. I was unsure if I would have steady clientele, I just knew what I wanted to do and what it required. Along with confirmation from God to step out on faith, that was my driving for to start my own business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Of course! So as my brand grows, it’s description as a whole is starting to change. Most people know me for my work as a fashion photographer with Steven G. Photography. I’ve been honored to work with some amazing people and brands across the globe. I started photography in high school on my yearbook staff and developed a love for the art and stuck with it. My love for fashion drew me to the fashion industry and I have been here ever since. What sets me apart from others is the value that I provide. I am able to contribute to projects with knowledge, insight, and experience not only as a fashion photographer but also as a creative director, brand consultant, and personal stylist. I’ve also recently signed with Bridges Modeling Agency as a brawn model so this allows me to contribute in such strategic and creative way to any brand or business. I have the ability to pick up a camera and tell a story that translate from the set all the way to the viewers personal experience with the image. I’ve learned that having such value is a commodity in the industry. So I took all of my passions and interest and invested into them. I took courses, workshops, studied, assisted; I did what I had to do to be comfortable enough to know that I can offer a service and provide a valuable experience to my client no matter what the service would be and that it translates in every service I offer. My clients feel connected and often mention the additional insight that they obtain after working with me. I try to make it a one stop shop if I can for every client.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So when traveling to LA I have to ALWAYS go to the beach. Venice would be first on my list. We can spend most of the day on the boardwalk, working out, snapping pics or just chilling, catching a vibe on the sand. It’s always entertainment. Next, we’d have to grab some Soul Food from Comfort LA downtown. Then we’d hit Rodeo Dr and hit a couple stores. Maybe even hit up my boy @fashionheadmac for some new pieces. We’d visit Hollywood and walk the strip and check out a couple spots on the blvd. I’d hit up my friend @raquelharristv who is one of the best journalist, show producers around and see if she recommends any events. We’d set up a shoot at Concrete Studios downtown capture some dope visuals. The possibilities are endless.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So I have to give recognition where it is deserved. A lot of the accomplishments I have made and journey I have embarked would not be at all possible without my wife Jasmine Green. She is the foundation of my business. From the start, she believed in me and my vision and was there to support, not only with her words but with action. Before ever actually reaching the point of dating, as friends/colleagues she dove head first with all money in. She helped organize my thoughts and processes and turned them into ground breaking ideas that turned into my reality. Growing together, she always encouraged me to be my best self, to take the leaps of faith, she was my constant confirmation from God. She is my heaven on earth, not just in the physical sense- But mind, body, and soul she… is. Now that we’re married, we’ve officially started our own business merging our worlds of fashion, dynamic imagery, and advertising, and created our marketing agency Source Management Agency. We’ve done a soft launch this year and have taken on only a few clients for now and will be fully launching later here in 2020.
