We had the good fortune of connecting with Sumrr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sumrr, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has changed drastically.

Before, Id have to balance a full time job while finding time to work on my Art. There wasn’t really any balance in that. My mind was clutter. The people around me didn’t make it any better. Now, that I am a full time creative I make sure my mind is clear when working on my craft. I had to develop a routine. Change those around me, and changed what I put my energy into. Without a routine you can get caught up in so many things. You have to find that balance. It’s critical.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my art itself. As I always say any real true Artist has to be authentically themselves. Their truest form and I feel that’s what I exude, no one can be me and I cannot be anyone else. As of right now, I’m working on my 2nd project and I couldn’t be more excited. Now that I got the first project out the way. Which set the tone for what I am coming with next. I feel even more excited that I’m finally starting to feel more comfortable stepping out of my shell and expressing more of my creative side without caring about anyone opinions but my own.

I got to where I am by simply taking the initiative to want more for myself. I was unhappy a year ago. I knew there was more for me out there and that I had to go get it. Ive always been a go getter. I’ve been on my own since 18, i’ll be 26 come October and I’m glad I started young, it set the tone for me to learn to become independent and make ways out of noways. As a starving artist this isnt new for me. In no way has it been easy. Financially, it hasnt been a smooth ride. Its easy to make it look easy but it hasnt been and that’s okay. It’s only the beginning and I’m ready for whatever life throws at me. I overcome things by going through it. It’s no going back for me, especially realizing how far I’ve come. Im also very appreciative of the people around me and make sure they are aware of that almost everyday.

Iv’e learned how to sacrifice, patience and gratitude. Learn to be grateful for the good and bad.

I just simply want the world to really see how creative I am. I am multi-talented person whether its my music, fashion, dancing or even painting I want them to know its all stems from love. My heart.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Id take them to Santa Monica.

Its so many things to do there whether its the beach, shopping or restaurants its always a great time and atmosphere. In the mornings we’ll go hiking, to get a clear mind and get ready for the day. Then, we’ll go lay out at the beach or even go skating down the boardwalk and listen to music. That’s literally my favorite. We’ll go shop at a few stores, eat and go get massages.

My favorite activities are relaxing activities. I love a good massage and so does my friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tomas Cutts

I chose Tomas because he was the first person that took a chance on me when I first moved to LA believe it or not l was his first freelance artist as well. Within the year 1/2 we’ve known each other he has taught me patience shown nothing but continuance support and encourages me every single day to keep going. His work ethics alone is something I look up to. Built himself from the ground up and that’s something that inspires me!
