We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, how does your business help the community?
It was important that I founded Simone The Label in purpose, and the Jewelry for Justice collection was my first step in building an empire of impact. 50% of all profits from the collection are donated to the Equal Justice Initiative, and with the help of our STL fam we’ve had great success in our ability to give to EJI. The Jewelry for Justice Collection was just the start of many passion projects in the pipeline, and I am continuing to grow our social impact through grants for various causes, young entrepreneur programming/consulting which is already being rolled out and so much more. I feel blessed to be able to give through STL and now that I have seen the doors that this business is opening for others I am so motivated to continue to create a supportive network for as many people as possible!
What should our readers know about your business?
Simone the Label is an affordable luxury jewelry line that aids everyones desire to be their true self through accessorizing. We offer a collection of beautiful pieces designed to be aesthetically pleasing and physically excellent, while delivering positive emotions and lasting memories through each piece shared. What sets STL apart is who we are as a brand and the community we’re building. The quality of pieces speaks for itself, but it’s our foundation that makes us strong. We are purpose driven and full of creativity. I love that our STL fam looks forward not just to the jewelry that we share but the artistry of what we create. It hasn’t been a straight path to where I am now with the brand, but knowing that “mistakes” and “failures” are blessings in disguise has allowed me to take strong steps forward in building my business. I’ve learned to take my time, and not rush into decisions out of excitement or fear, but to really think long term and also keep in mind that I don’t have to have all the answers right away. Things will always unfold as they should as long as I’m putting the work in to the best of my ability. At Simone the Label we strive to inspire and bring out the best in our STL fam. Everyone who buys a piece is getting behind what STL stands for and receiving the dream and the vision along with their jewelry. I hope that our customers are able to see from an early stage all that we’re creating and that whatever it is they want to pursue they can as well!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, there are so many places in LA that I love! If I were showing my best friend around LA, we would have to grab breakfast.at Poppy & Rose downtown LA and dinner and drinks at The Venue in Koreatown. We’d definitely go on a hike, out by the water or in the the city for great views all around! If you’re visting LA you can’t miss seeing the Hollywood Sign and driving down Melrose, and Hollywood Blvd to see the walk of fame. We would shop around Our Piece of the Pie in the Arts District, and enjoy music at Live from The Studio with Emi Secrest in North Hollywood. We would have to get Ice Cream at the Dolly Llama or Salt & Straw. You can’t leave LA without spending a day at my favorite place, the beach!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who I have worked with along the way that have made it possible for me to be at this stage with my business! From creatives to mentors, friends and family it’s so hard to list one shoutout. Photographers who have continually partnered with me including @francoisjoseph_, @Textheartist, @badflicks have truly made my vision a reality! @nohobmbe has helped and inspired me so much with the work they’re doing for our community and local black & minority owned small businesses. The full support of friends and family has been amazing, especially to bounce ideas off and to encourage me just when I need it most.
