We had the good fortune of connecting with T La’Niece and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi T, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about the industry that outsider are probably unaware of is that there is room for all of us. A lot of creatives get discouraged by others story about how its hard to start a business, build a brand, etc. Even when I first started my photography business a few years ago, I was told my many that it would be hard to get in the business because it was dominated by professionals who have grown and build connections with major brands etc. But I didnt let any of that get in my way of dreaming.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Creatives are full of many talents. In addition to my work, I believe myself as an individual sets me apart from others. I really care about my clients, my work and my creations. I put a lot of thought into each process and each project. Nothing comes easy but with hard work anything is possible. I knew what I wanted and didnt stop until I reached a level of success. And continue to grow and dream bigger. One main lesson Ive learned is to never listen to anyone who dampens your dream. I surround myself with positive people and that is very important- to have a social group who can understand and appreciate you and your talents.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, right now I am currently residing in Washington, D.C. The nation’s capital. Our first stop would be National Museum of African American History and Culture. There is so much history and cultural inspiration that this is a must see for anyone!
Nest stop lunch! DC is filled with many gems especially when it comes to food. One of my favorite areas to dine is the Wharf and Georgetown area. There you will find some of the best restaurants and shops to enjoy a day out by the water.
Then we would end the night with a sunset dinner cruise around the Potomac River while site seeing some of DC”s finest treasures.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Im a bibliophile. I love reading many books but there was one book in particular that gave me hope to pursue my dreams, The Alchemist. Ive read this book numerous times and it never gets old. I think anyone can relate to the journey sought out in this book.
