We had the good fortune of connecting with Tali Diamond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tali, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To me, starting my own business meant taking a leap of faith towards something I’m passionate about. Having been a retail buyer/merchandiser with my own clothing business years before pivoting to real-estate, I was always drawn to the prospect of launching a career where I could inject a sense of creativity into my professional endeavors while enjoying the flexibility and responsibility that comes with a self-managed business. While real-estate differs from my background in fashion, I knew that I’d be at home starting my own career in real-estate due to my aesthetic sensibilities, appreciation for small details, and love for engaging with and servicing my clients.
What should our readers know about your business?
Having been in business for roughly five years now, one thing I can say for certain about my field is that it’s always changing; I’m constantly faced with the need to meet new clients, show new properties, and navigate changing markets, all of which contribute to a challenging yet rewarding experience of helping clients confidently secure one of life’s biggest and most important assets. Something unique about my business would have to be my ability to prioritize transparency and openness when dealing with clients and other agents. I pride myself in welcoming all types of clients and aim to never gate-keep properties from potential buyers. While pivoting into a new career later in life amidst a changing technological landscape was daunting in many ways, I’m immensely grateful to be where I am today and I’d attribute a large portion of my success to my relationships with clients/other agents and my persistence towards learning how to help them best.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love getting out and exploring different parts of town; uncovering hidden-gem neighborhoods is one of the best parts of my job and it’s led me to find a bunch of amazing restaurants, stores, and coffee shops all over LA! Some of my favorite spots are the Mar Vista Farmers Market, the Last Bookstore in the Arts District, Craig’s on Melrose, Nobu off PCH, and Gjelina on Abbot Kinney. To reset my body and soul after a long day I turn to Globe Tribe Wellness for some Aromatherapy or Unplug Meditation. For the active lifestyle, I also love hiking and going on walks around town; I’d say my favorite hike is up Westridge because I can take my dog off leash and I love going for long walks along the Venice Canals.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there was anyone I would want to thank for helping me on my journey into real-estate, it would definitely have to be my coach Paul Fig. As I was beginning my career in real-estate, I decided to hire Paul as a coach and he’s truly been indispensable in helping me launch my career and create a business. Paul has always been a mentor whom I could bounce ideas off of and come to for advice on anything; I endlessly admire his calm demeanor, expertise, and experience in the field and I continue to consult with him regularly. Lastly, I would like to give a warm shoutout to my managers at Compass for all of their guidance and support
