We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamarah Angelique Logan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamarah Angelique, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent the most important thing I’ve done to impact my children would have to be instilling in them tools that support Self-love and Self-acceptance. I’ve tried to teach them through my own actions and way of life, that we’re all human, no matter where we come from, what colour our skin is, what our religion is, our cultural beliefs, and that it doesn’t matter what clothes we wear, where we live or the things we like to do, we are all human, and basically all want the same thing, love. They know, that loving themselves as they are, excepting all of themselves as they are, and not picking themselves apart, is the way to be, they’ve learned to see the good and not so good about themselves; they don’t have to like some of the things that they are or that they see, but they surely don’t have to hate themselves because of it! We are all human, perfectly flawed, imperfectly perfect. There’s always room for improvement as a human being, if you want to grow, move forward and change those things that you may not like about yourself it’s OK to do that, and it’s also OK not to! Teaching my kids the value of Self-love, Self-acceptance and helping them create tools via practices routines and habits, has to be one of the most important ways I’ve impacted my children’s lives! They are 22 and 14 now and they are uniquely themselves and although they struggle growing through life sometimes, I see them practicing Self-love and Self-acceptance and most importantly I see them loving and accepting others the same way they love and accept themselves… Simply as humans trying to be their best selves and trying to live a good life. My children are to me, my biggest success thus far in my life. Seeing my children thrive and flourish is the most rewarding mom experience there is!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Who I am today, is not the person I set out to be, and that’s okay! Life has a way of leading us to our passion and purpose, if we let go and stay open. 30 years ago I was a working model and commercial actress, with dreams of becoming a famously successful Latinx model! Flash forward 30 years and I’m a stay at home homeschooling momprenuer, far from famous, lol! The several careers I had during the 30 years, plus all of life’s lessons that I learned along the way, have brought me here, to my present career as a writer and blogger. My lifestyle blog 4LOGANSRUN is basically a community for women and moms where I write about family fitness food and fun, sharing ways for women and moms to live a more conscious positive lifestyle, using practices like meditation and mindfulness.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When one of my besties comes to visit me in LA our week is filled with local hikes at Runyon canyon or Temescal canyon and lots of beach walks at my favorite local beach, in Venice. Plus a visit to one of my favorite spas, The Beverly Hot Springs, for some time floating in the hot mineral pool as well as jumping into the cold water pool for some water therapy. We’d end our spa day at Urth Cafe my favorite health food restaurant, with a Rising Sun Matcha latte and some delicious food!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to all the Moms of the world! Who wake up everyday, no matter what, who show up no matter what state they’re in, who give selflessly day in and day out, all for the sake of loving their children!
