Meet Tanya Jung | Tanya Jung | Pastry Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Jung and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, starting my own business was a bit of an accident — the opportunity kind of fell into my lap, and I just ran with it. I used to work for my friend, who had her own cookie business, but she decided to close shop when Covid hit. Soon after, when one of her old clients wanted to place another order, she really encouraged me to give it a shot and was super supportive when I started thinking about building my own cookie business. She’s been such an incredible role model and watching her grow her business inspired me, and before I knew it, I was elbow-deep in dough and the rest is history.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is the blend of creativity, craftsmanship, and intentionality behind everything I make. I started in the arts — I even got my Master’s in Teaching for studio art — but quickly realized I wanted a more tangible and shareable way to create. That led me to attend culinary school for pastry, and I found my niche in custom cookies: edible art that brings joy to people’s most meaningful moments.
This journey hasn’t been without doubts, for sure. Impostor syndrome hits hard sometimes, and I’ve had to learn that slowing down or stepping back doesn’t mean failure. Some of my most important growth has come from those pauses — taking the time to make sure my foundation is strong and my values stay front and center.
I’m proud that my brand is rooted in authenticity. From the ingredients I use to the way I connect with clients, I make sure every part reflects care, quality, and creativity. And, let’s be real — I also love the fact that I get to play with food for a living!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I had to dedicate a shoutout to someone who’s played a big role in my journey, it would be to my partner — and, of course, our blind poodle mix, Mojo. The two of them are my biggest sources of support, love, and grounding. My partner has been with me through every high and low, always encouraging me, offering perspective, and reminding me of my strength when I’ve doubted myself. He’s been a constant source of calm, helping me stay grounded and see beyond the day-to-day.
And then there’s Mojo, whom we jokingly call our son. He might not be a person or a mentor in the traditional sense, but he’s been an absolute joy in our lives. Whether we’re taking walks as a family or he’s curled up next to me while I work, he’s a constant reminder to slow down, be present, and find balance.
Running a home-based business has allowed me to spend more time with both of them. Their support has not only enriched my personal life but also helped me show up better in my professional one.
So, shoutout to my little family for being a daily reminder that success isn’t just about the hustle — it’s also about heart.
