We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Newbould and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, how does your business help the community?
I am very close to receiving my ICF (International Coaches Federation) accreditation from the Academy of Coaching Excellence. This plays an important part in my role as a Life Transformation Strategist. As someone who suffered and survived seven out of nine Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD’s), I became a Speaker and Coach to help decimate the stigma of these disorders and help women thrive and know that “You are not alone.” PMAD’s affect one in five women and one in 10 men. Because of my experience, I knew there needed to be more relevant information in the world, so I had the forethought and Co-created with two amazing women “When the Bough Breaks-a documentary about Postpartum Depression”, narrated and Executive Produced by Brooke Shields. It is in over 160 countries, six languages and it is saving lives. I have also created a jewelry line “SOZO Heart” to represent these disorders. Much like the Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon, this piece of jewelry is designed to be a global piece so that if I’m wearing it and you’re wearing it, we know we are tribe. I’ve also collaborated with Ubilam Malibu Candles to create a candle and diffuser with medicinal amounts of essential oils to help combat depression, anxiety, sleep and create a sense of “All is well.” The last piece of this puzzle is my memoir of my journey through Perinatal Mood Disorders which will be launched later this year. Everything I do is designed to create a social impact and bring awareness to this very real mental affliction.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a Multi-hyphenate or Entrepreneur. I have a successful Coaching/Speaking business and I am also a 20 year jewelry designer of Del Pozzo Jewelry. I am an artist and creative and this is incredibly important for many reasons. My entire life I’ve been told I need to focus on just one thing. “Jack of all trades, master of none”. Well I’m going to call BS on that! Lol. The truth is, if you follow your passion with good business sense, you have the ability to have multi-dimensional success. Tony Robbins owns 58 companies and is active in 12. I own two and I absolutely love both of my vocations. Also, being a creative, you can’t replace me with AI. Navigating life today, the more you can pivot and fill a need creatively, the more success you will attain both personally and professionally. Find your passion and your purpose and you cannot go wrong!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I used to have a whole route for my visitors. It includes driving up Beachwood Canyon to the Hollywood sign, stopping at In N Out burger for lunch before heading to Hollywood., you have to see the iconic landmarks. Another trip is out to Malibu to walk along the ocean, eat at Malibu Cafe for yummy organic farm to table food and watch the surfers. Cross Creek is so fun to shop and walk around. I would love to take my guest to a production at the Ahmanson Theater and have dinner at Perch on Sixth street. Another day would be all about Beverly Hills, luncheon at Il Pistaio and over to Neiman Marcus for some shopping inspiration. Lastly, Griffith Park at night to see the stars and view of beautiful Los Angeles.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shout out to Brooke Shields for her book “Down Came the Rain” which is how I learned I was suffering from Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
I’d also like to give a shout out to Jamielyn Lippman and Lindsay Gerszt who were my Co-Creators of “When the Bough Breaks-a documentary about Postpartum Depression”. They are both an inspiration and the documentary could not have been made without them.
I’d also like to give a shout out to Kalika Yap whose mentorship has up-leveled my life and business and put my on my path for ACE Coaching and achieving my ICF.
