Meet Tanya Stone | Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Stone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially, I sought a business that allowed flexibility in scheduling, enabling me to work around childcare, operate from home, and maintain low overhead costs. Inspired by the joy of designing my first child’s nursery, I ventured into interior design, realizing it was my true calling.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While interior design may be perceived as a luxury service, to me, it’s far more profound. It’s about fostering connections within a space, transforming a mere house into a cherished home—a task that requires immense dedication. Being entrusted with crafting a safe and beautiful environment for families is both an honor and a privilege. It’s an art form to seamlessly blend functionality with beauty.
What distinguishes me is my unwavering commitment to building relationships. I cherish my clients, and more often than not, they become like family. I relish the opportunity to immerse myself in their lives briefly, creating spaces that encapsulate their essence for years to come. The photographs at the end are just the icing on the cake.
My journey has been far from easy. With no industry connections, financial support, or formal design education, I’ve had to pave my own path, clawing my way to the top and fiercely advocating for myself. Every project, every experiment has been a lesson. Some good some bad. And while there are days where I have wanted to throw in the towel, I haven’t. I know there is so much left for me in this industry and I am so excited for the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My home of course. I little sanctuary I’ve built.
Los Angeles is full of hidden gems, the most amazing restaurants and so much beauty.
A couple of favorite spots are:
Of course the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel
Hidden gem in Ventura county called Alpine Deli.
Any beach in Malibu.
My favorite interior shop in Woodland Hills called the collective shop.
Of course the classic Rose bowl flea market is always a good time.
And truthfully any loved ones home for some quality time with loved ones.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Motherhood has been my greatest inspiration, driving me to exceed limits I once only dreamed of. I fearlessly put myself out there for the world to critique, all for the sake of providing for my children through a career I’m passionate about. Juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship is undeniably challenging, yet they are intertwined, each essential to the other’s existence in my life.
