We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Ariel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a very creative person. From a very young age I was writing long novels, poetry, and lyrics, drawing, singing, and doing anything that was creatively expressive. That later translated into me pursuing music, and I started to write and produce my own songs, and turn my poetry into music. I picked up the guitar 12 years ago and haven’t looked back since. After teaching myself everything from guitar to production, STARSE3D began 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hi my name is Taylor Ariel, I’m a singer-songwriter/ guitarist and I compose and produce my own music in STARSE3D. What sets me apart from others, according to my fans, is that my music is very unique, and that it really can’t be put into a box. I am also extremely hard working, passionate about my music, and couldn’t see myself doing anything else. One thing you can say is that my music is very 90s/ early 2000’s, and combines different elements of rock, alternative, metal, pop punk, and much more to create something otherworldly and original. I’m most proud of how I progressed as an artist, and the huge fan base I’ve cultivated over the years through putting out covers and my original music. I’m also happy that I got to work with musicians and clients from all around the world doing session work (vocals, guitar and production), and that my cover of “Jolene” landed Dolly Parton’s cover contest on NBC News/ Heartstrings. I hope that my music continues to reach more people, and help more people, just as it has been an outlet for me. I also hope to tour, and sing these songs with you guys on stage, hopefully one day soon! It definitely hasn’t been an easy road for me. As you know, the music industry is not an easy path to navigate. I’ve been doing music for over a decade, and one thing I can say is there’s no clear answer to get to where you want to be, and it’s a lot of hard work, especially if you’re the whole band. Doing everything yourself, including the recording, filming, editing, production, marketing, and much more, is a lot of work! I hope to eventually collaborate and work with the right people, and also take my music to the stage. Lessons I learned the hard way include that no one will “discover” you nowadays, and luck doesn’t come easily, even if you work really hard. Also, it takes a really long time to reach just a small audience (unless your lucky or have connections) despite the amount of work you do. I have a very strong work ethic, so I guess one lesson I learned is to work smarter, not harder. Don’t waste your time working on songs you don’t like, move on to the next song and keep writing and releasing. Finally, don’t be too much of a perfectionist, like I am 😀 I want the world to know that I have a HUGE passion for music, and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I hope that my music is a cathartic outlet for others, just as it is for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go with them to San Diego, to visit the beach and then we would go to Beverly Hills to check out some fancy shops and restaurants. If we’re rich, we would definitely shop! 😀

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all my fans, and those who have been supportive of my work over the years. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
