Meet Taylor Harris: Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I decided to become a real estate agent, my main focus was on how I could be of service to people. When I worked in other career fields, I was not able to use my talents to serve those who I felt needed them the most. With my own real estate business, I was able to implement procedures that best benefit those that I am working with. I am also very good at working independently, so I knew that I wanted to have a career where I am in control of my success. I wanted a business that I was excited to wake up to every morning. Creating my own business has allowed for me to do all of these things and more.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a real estate agent I specialize in helping individuals or families purchase or sale real estate. That includes homes, commercial buildings, and land. As an agent, I pride myself on the relationship that I develop with my clients. I really become like family with my clients. To this day I still have clients that keep in touch and give me updates on their families. Specifically with buying or selling homes, I’m most proud that I don’t have a particular price point niche. Homeownership is a dream for everyone, despite how much money you have, and I will work with anyone to help them achieve that dream. As a brand I am proud that I am able to market myself. What you see is what you get, and I feel like most clients choose to work with me because of the person that I am. No gimmicks, just me. I also love that I was able to merge my degree in education with my real estate business. I love to represent clients, but I am also able to educate them about the entire process. I want readers to know that I am the agent for them! They can be confident that I know what I am doing, and that they will be working with a professional who can get the job done.

This career did not start off easy. One thing you don’t realize when you get into this field of work, is that you are literally running your own business. You hang your license with a broker, but you determine how successful you are. You have to seek out your own clientele, and if you have no clients, you aren’t making any money. As a new agent it can be a sink or swim situation. Real estate isn’t just buying and selling houses. As a realtor you are required to generate and convert leads, deal with marketing, customer relationship management, and so much more. There are so many phases in a single transaction, and you don’t make a cent until escrow closes. You must have a lot of confidence and strong work ethic to get far.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely Disneyland! Also, Orange county is surrounded with the best beaches! Trying out the restaurants near Laguna Beach are perfect, because some of them have rooftop seating along with live music. Fashion Island is perfect for shopping. There is just so much to do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The most important shout out that I could give is to God. When I look back, I can really see how He has guided me to this place of success, I am truly grateful for that. My husband and mom have fully supported me in fulfilling my dreams. Whether it is sitting open houses with me, passing out flyers, or giving me the most encouraging conversations; they both have truly been apart of my progress. My Granny and Opa truly laid the foundation for me to be successful in whatever I put my mind to, and have always supported me.  My Aunt and Uncle who network for me, and make sure that everyone knows to support my business (I love referrals!). Also my mentor, she is a seasoned agent, and when I came to her for help, she truly took time with me to teach me all of what she knows. Without her I wouldn’t know anything. There are so many people who have been on this journey with me, I am so appreciative.
