We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Rossi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Do it for you & do it scared. What I’ve learned time and time again, especially working in a creative field, is that nothing is actually objective — everyone is going to have their own opinion about you and your work. After I graduated college, any risk I took felt like I was cliff jumping from the highest possible height; over time that height has lessened and I’ve been able to decide the level to which I find my work acceptable, and what needs more work to get it to that level with the knowledge and skillset I have right now.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My work is all about collaboration & feeling safe to be yourself. As someone who has felt incredibly uncomfortable during my own photoshoot experiences, I knew that I wanted that to be the core mission of my work. Making sure the photos are clear, properly centered, and stylish are all factors in my mind during the process, but to me, what’s so much more fulfilling and has a deeper vibrational impact, is knowing that my clients can take a deeper breath, drop their shoulders, and be captured the way they want to be seen!
It’s felt incredibly natural to do and something I’ve leaned into even more after hearing positive feedback from clients, but learning what wording to use, especially words that aren’t entirely appearance-focused, has taken the most work and intention.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have loved Boston ever since I visited it in middle school so being able to live here is truly a dream! Some of my favorite places to go are Bow Market, especially grabbing an IPA from Remnant Brewing, sitting on a blanket with a book at the Boston Public Garden, dancing it out after a long week at Club Cafe, or getting an insanely delicious mojito + dinner from Lolitas! I’m still not over the heartbreak of some of my favorite restaurants closing from the pandemic, but there are so many places here I’ve yet to try, and will have some new favorites soon, I’m sure!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nicole Riccardo — back in 2018 I was laid off from my job and on a whim, I took her online course, Create Your Career. She taught me so much, helped me find my path, and now I’m lucky enough to work alongside her every day!
