Meet Taylor Smith | Clothing Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Newport Beach, California and first started my company in quarantine. I grew up in a very large family full of creative people so I feel like designing is in my blood. My mom has always been super into arts and crafts and we were finding ourselves crafting something different almost every other week. Being taught how to sew by my mom in 3rd grade, was when my passion for fashion started. Ever since I was finding myself fixing and tailoring clothing. It wasn’t until quarantine, that I started to make my own clothing. I get my creative ideas from every day people, seeing the unique things they are wearing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am intrigued by color. All of my pieces are eye catching and bright. Wearing my piece, you are bound to catch some eyes. All of my clothing is made with an inside out patchwork style made unique for each person. No item is the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a big foodie and would bring them to some of my favorite restaurants including Bear Flag, Gulf Stream, and Din Tai Fung. I live in a big beach town so obviously I would bring them to have a picnic on the beach and visit the near by cities for shopping and exploring!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out all my beautiful friends who have helped me design and be creative since the beginning. My friends are the best models and always make designing fun!
