We had the good fortune of connecting with Tee Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

The thought process behind starting EBLUXE HAIR has been something brewing for several years that finally evolved. My daughter and I typically do not wear hair extensions. We love wearing our hair in it’s natural texture which is long, thick, curly, and healthy.

There would be times when we were planning to go on vacation and wanted to put our hair in a protective hairstyle with either extensions or braids and would be so disappointed with the quality of hair that was available. We were told that we were purchasing 100% human hair, when in, fact it wasn’t. Since the hair industry is not regulated, companies are able to use fillers, synthetic fibers, and even animal hair in their products and advertise it as human hair.

A few years ago we moved from California to Virginia and it was hard to find braiding hair. My mother would actually have to ship it to us from CA.
All of this combined; being disappointed with the quality, lack of honesty and accessibility, is what motivated us into starting our own business. We wanted to provide others with the quality hair that we were so desperately looking for and to be the supplier that people could trust.

Not only do we care about selling hair extensions but we also prioritize the health of an individual’s natural hair, which is overlooked a lot of times. EBL HAIR has been developed as a product of our personal experience, extensive research, and passion for helping others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

At EBL HAIR we sell quality 100% Human Hair extensions and we are a Mother and Daughter team. The fact that we truly care about giving our customers the best of the best hair extensions definitely sets us apart. The quality that we offer our clients will allow our hair extensions to last 4 or more years and blends great with their hair. We are excited because we will be releasing a new product soon, which is our wig collection. Our wigs will tie into our non profit where we will be donating full lace custom wigs to women that are affected by cancer, which is something very personal to both of us.

As black woman not having the guidance that we needed to start our business was challenging. Not being able to pick up the phone or send an email to ask a simple question. However we have figured it out and have spent countless hours researching, investing our own money and relying on my experience of managing a Fortune 500 company to help us. The best part is that now we can be that guidance for someone else, which is why we are building our network as well as joining others. Being able to give back or share this moment of creating a brand with your child, is powerful. There are so many lessons taught and many learned. What we are most proud of at EBL Hair is that we have designed every aspect of it, from our website to our packaging, and even our wigs. We have full creative control to make our vision a reality. Being able to define our future and share these moments together is a wonderful feeling.

At EBL Hair we believe that the energy that you put into the universe is what you will receive back. So we believe in treating people how we want to be treated. We keep things simple by keeping God first, being honest, trustworthy and by offer quality products.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Southern California and being true Cali girls, we would definitely have some lazy days at the beach. Our favorite Beaches to hang out at are either Newport Beach or Laguna Beach. Then of course we would have to rejuvenate at the spa, either Burke Williams or Terranea Resort because we love their spa views. We would also take a drive up the coast to show off some of the beautiful California scenery and sunsets. Dinners would consist of a little bit of everything from the casual neighborhood spots to the more elegant fine dining because we love everything food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband who is also her father for always being supportive and always believing in us.
