We had the good fortune of connecting with Thando Skwatsha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thando, what do you attribute your success to?
Consistency. I pride myself in allowing my artistic journey to run its course and try my best not to dictate it. Working hard at my craft and enjoying what I do are also what further enhance the success of my brand
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I pride myself in being a versatile artist. not only do I fall under the “triple threat’ category but my art goes beyond that as within the sub categories of singing, dancing and acting, I am able to perform and re invent myself to accommodate different genres within and that it what sets me apart. I am most excited about my upcoming album, it is a 12 album track of which all songs were written entirely by me, different from the first album. I got to where I am today through hard work and self motivation. No it was not easy but also neither did I expect it to be. The challenges I overcame along the way had a lot to do with personal development and of which I am very proud. I want the world to know through my work about my brand is that vulnerability is our superpower.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a BIG iHop since moving to the united states from South Africa. so that is defiantly were would we go for breakfast. from there we would definitely hit up Griffith park for a hike for some of my favourite views of the city and I love a good hike. driving down to see Venice beach, Santa Monica and Malibu are all also in the programme and in that specific order. as the sun sets universal city walk for dinner at bubba gumps because I love Forrest Gump. my dad used to call me ‘nightrider’ in my early teen days as I would often spend many nights out having a good time so definitely hitting up West Hollywood for a good time. Hollywood walk of fame and exploring many other eateries and restaraunts is also a definite as I am a foodie.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I cannot mention my own name without giving credit to my producer and manager Milan Rendall and the rest of his team at RNDL.Co. without this team there would be very little to know about me and they all play vital roles in my life and the success thereof.
