We had the good fortune of connecting with The Alley-Oops and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Alley-Oops, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What makes the band successful is our music and our approach to it. As a band that plays oldies music, we don’t take ourselves seriously and it comes across through the songs. Combining music with comedy really makes for a memorable live music experience. You’ll never know what we’ll play next, we will go from rockabilly to surf music to country to polkas!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Alley-Oops are a trio made up of Alex Niebla on guitar, Audrey Bean on bass and Erika Mendivil on drums.
At our core we are a rockabilly band but there is more to us than that. We have a vast knowledge of music that we use to mix with other genres such as surf, blues, jazz, and polka into our own unique style.
Having crowds dancing, laughing, and signing along to our live shows always reassures us we are doing something right and that motivates us to perform our best and give everyone an unforgettable show.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Old Torrance Antique Street Fair is one of our favorite spots not only to perform at but also to walk around and do some shopping.
Erika never fails to find some nice vintage goods!
