We had the good fortune of connecting with The Astronots and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Astronots, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We wanted to create music that we liked, for fun with out any “rules” for what that music would sound like.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The last year has been a roller coaster for the arts and many of the challenges have been completely overwhelming for both of us. As a team, we decided the most important thing was to give each other space to process this whole pandemic rather than trying to power through and keep new music coming out through out. We’ve been friends for a long time but have really only been able to sort through out disagreements by listening to each other and making sure the other person is taken care of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
MhZh (please come back after COVID), Sunset Tower Hotel Bar, Leo Carrillo Beach, Doubting Thomas, Daydream Surf Shop, Baja Fish Taco on 19th in Costa Mesa, The Hi Hat, In N Out, Disneyland, Sunset Sound, Goldiggers, The Varnish Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The list of people who have helped us, believed in our music and encouraged us to make more is very long and each person and company has been uniquely important in their own way. Tanvi at Crucial Music was perhaps our first “fan” and we certainly would not have had any of our first placements with out her encouragement and support.
