We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiare Rush and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiare, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my first business for the same reasons many people do. I wanted to be my own boss. I wanted to do something that I loved, so I would never have to “work” a day in my life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a photographer, and I have two separate businesses that cater to different demographics. The first being Branding Photography and the second being portraiture. I am proud that I am completely self-taught, and have been in business for almost 15 years. I have had the opportunity to travel as far as the Bahamas, and have met so many people I never would have if not for my profession. I have learned to take the lesson in every win, AND every “fail” and realize that there is truly no success story without failure. If my story can teach you anything, it’s to be resilient and keep moving. Be better than the person you are on your best day.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are in a pandemic, so we are staying home lol. But, if we were not, I’d take them to the Griffith Observatory, The Korean Friendship Bell, and we’d eat all the amazing Korean BBQ we could in my city of Gardena and then shuffle to Long Beach for my fave Mexican spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my friend Morgen. I have had the pleasure to be able to mentor her, and help her to develop her talent and doing so has helped me to grow immensely. Just as I encourage her, she pushes me to be the very best that I can be, and I am so proud to be her friend.
