We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Abell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tim, what role has risk played in your life or career?
What is risk? The dictionary defines Risk as: “a situation involving exposure to danger.”… most people prefer not to put themselves in harms way. They prefer to mitigate any negative outcomes in life by only doing that which is somewhat certain…safe and predictable…. but for me I always had an adventurers spirit….dreamed of far off destinations….doing things that tested my mettle as a Man….. So at the age of 17 I joined the US Army to attempt to become a US Army Ranger.. There were no guarantees…… about anything at all. I always loved this quote from Hellen Keller : “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”…. that quote sums up my life thus far from serving as a Ranger with a Ranger Battaion to becoming an actor in Hollywood…..where risk and uncertainty is a constant bedfellow….risk of failure personally and professionally, risk of not achieving that which you prepare for, risk of being a failure…… but it’s “walking on that tightrope” that drives me to risk all….that makes me feel alive….

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I learned many things from serving in the Army……….to never quit…..to always do the best job I possibly could….. to take pride in my work…. to always know what my mission and purpose is…….to give 100 percent and then some….these have served me well as an actor.!in Hollywood where there is so much rejection, so many broken dreams and heartbreaking tales of careers careering out of control. Those lessons served me well and definitely helped me land an outstanding role in Producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s syndicated TV series “Soldier of Fortune inc.”, which was a dream come true for me! A role where I got to put my military skill set to good use playing USMC Scout /Sniper Benny Ray Riddle every week on tv….. still one of my favorite roles which led to many more….

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in LA for as long as I have….. I am still just a big tourist! When friends and relatives visit from out of town, I love to play tour guide! A basic week itinerary would include Disneyland for a full day, Universal Studios for anther full day ending at having dinner and drinks at Citywalk….. another full day would be spent sightseeing in Hollywood area…. Hollywood Blvd to see the Chinese Theatre with all the stars foot and hand prints in cement….. seeing a film in the main theatre…… lunch at Missouri & Franks…… drinks at the Frolic Room….. then dinner at Lawreys Prime Rib… another day would be spent at Santa Monica ….. at the beach…. then the SM Pier for the sunset while sipping a Margarita……. anther day would be spent driving up the coast along PCH….lunch at Neptune’s Net…… and onto the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa to spend the night……. then to Santa Barbara to tour the vineyards while staying at Fess Parker’s…… paradise indeed 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
