We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiombé Lockhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiombé, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
I believe we have created unrealistic viewpoints of life with duality. Constantly looking at life as wrong and right. In this hamster wheel of regrets. All for the sake of comfort. I’ve learned to look at life as we came here with each lifetime to fulfill agreements. Agreements that offer learning experiences that will support the evolution of our family lineage and/or the world. Hitting rock bottom 4 years ago was the most liberating experience I’ve ever had. Comfort is a trick.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I began as a singer at the age of 7 and have had amazing opportunities touring all over the world! I love singing but felt restricted and began directing, producing and editing music videos. A couple of years ago I dove deeper into visual art. I began making my album covers and feel in love with it. Hilma Af Klint and Emma Kunz really inspired me. Not only because of their striking work but because they both incorporated their spirtuality into their peices and you could feel them. I’ve been practicing reiki since 2014 and became a reiki master last year. So I draw reiki symbols into my artwork. I love that reiki healing is blasting into every home that my artwork is in.

I’m also working on a guided meditation/documentary film that speaks on the worlds projections as black women being durable black bodies and the obsession with black women’s wombs. I am currently running a campaign on go fund me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely go to the ocean to commune with the ancestors and sun. Lots of food! All kinds. There’s so many amazing eateries in LA. And we would for sure go to Joshua Tree to commune with the stars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My ancestors. Especially the women. The women that were not allowed to express their voices, sexuality, or even go where they wanted. They kept quiet and their magic laid dormant to survive, so that I can be here. Their DNA lives in me and together we are free.
