We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Nario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I have done is make sure I am an active father, not just financially but with my time, spending time with my daughter who is now 13 and doesn’t think of me as the cool smooth dad I am lol. None the less we talk 3 times a day as I co parent with her mother who moved her away from me 7 years ago to SD in hopes of me give up on being a father, I didn’t give up and I’ve made sure no matter what, I’m there for all her sports events and all school events, back to school night, school orientation. I get her every other weekend, I get her all holiday breaks from school, as I live in Los Angeles and San Diego is a 2 hours drive usually over 3 hours with traffic. Being there is what’s been my biggest impact.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a American Hip Hop artist of Mexican descendants out of Inglewood Ca, I have been in love with the culture of Hip Hop since i could practically walk, however i always made sure to include my heritage and roots into my music since the moment i put together my first recording at 12 years of age. i honestly don’t consider myself on any level, i just enjoy the journey and experiences that the most high has provided for me. I also take the gifts he gave me to be able to take my experiences and turn them into songs that some can relate to themselves or their own situations they’ve been through. My biggest challenge was that at my height of touring with Mellow man ace. and opening for acts like, Dj Quik, Beatnuts, Fat Joe and many others, i became a father, once she was born, i made a decision that i would not miss anything of hers for any reason which ultimately slowed down my music career. I never really regained the exact buzz i had but i didn’t care as long as my kid knew her daddy was there and will do anything for her. She’s now a teen and has actually inspired me and Motivated me to get back to it over the last 2 years. While i may be much older now, the hunger and passion for writing my rhymes and songs does not lack and i have picked up where i left off. The one thing i want the world to know is that i am a great father and human being and i want them walking away knowing i top tier MC when it comes to this Hip Hop culture.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
id take them to the Venice beach board walk, then to the Santa Monica pier and the Promenade, i would take them to eat some really good bbq at woody’s bbq in inglewood or even Roscoe’s chicken and waffles. One of my favorite spots is a spot called Don Antonio’s in Santa Monica. We def have to catch a show or game at the Forum or SoFi stadium.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost if like to thank The Most High God! Then my Mother and Daughter for the motivation they have always given me and support. I’d like to thank everyone who ever helped me on my journey, Rolo, Gymnase, D Royal, Tommy Gunz and the whole drastic measure crew, Lyric who used to get my a lot of shows when he was in the business, Mellow Man Ace who took me on my first out of state tour, Ken Wilson who got my music video on MTVU, music choice on demand and over 35 stores of sheiks shoes when they used to do that. Glasses Malone DMC whom I still currently am friends with and do business with as well. Thank to all the Pioneers of Hip Hop who came before me, I appreciate everything they did and continue to do to push the culture forward.
