We had the good fortune of connecting with Tré Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tré, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I’ve learned to always ANTICIPATE!
In entertainment, things will shift in seconds. One minute life is good, next you’re operating in a space of uncertainty. For me, I move in, “what’s next mode?!” at all times and I’m prepared for the love or fight that comes with it – I am always anticipating the bad, the good, and the uncertainty!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Honestly, managing multiple brands, projects, items, peoples lives (lol) is second nature for me. I’ve literally done this my entire life. I have a HUGE family and since I was about 6, I’ve always been looked at as the more responsible one – whether my family would say it aloud or not (haha). Naturally I was giving more tasks than my siblings or cousins, so I kind of just started taking the initiative and doing things on my own. Like what 8 year old do you enrolls them selves in school? Literally would submit my shot records and sign my own documents (hahaha) – I wouldn’t advise kids to do not that now (haha). But so my job essentially is oversee and manage – make executive decisions, strategize and develop! A few challenges I face is I take on too many projects, though I get things done and on time, I take away from my me time which we all need!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from the South, the Deep South! I am from Houston, Texas by way of Opelousas, Louisiana and I am a PROUD CAJUN MAN! But since I reside LA, as you can imagine the culture is a bit different than what I grew up around. I legit love LA! For me, I’ve done the LA “tourist’ / ‘transplant’ things so I have more a my version of a local spirit now. I love random visits to Leimert Park to support all the Black – Owned Vendors there. I like to dance so any event Jae Murphy or DJ Benjamin Walker are hosting/dj’ing at you will probably catch me attending. I love to eat – so I have a few local spots like Crustaceans, Little Kingston Jamaican Restaurant, and more. Overall, finding hidden gems in LA is my go to and experiencing it all with my tribe!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Tribe – my Family + Friends mean the most to me because we genuinely support and encourage each other 🙂
