We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Lazaris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

Taking a risk is like buying a winning ticket. If you stay focused and work hard toward the goal, you can’t lose. Even if you have some losses, during the process, it is easier to deal with them than deal with any kind of regret. Last, I’ve always believed that if you don’t take risks, you end up risking more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I was a 33 year old gay dude, when I decided to leave Greece and come to LA with practically no one there. Things got tough; I had to go from 6 figures to “figure it out“. In Greece I was an award winning copywriter and a famous radio broadcaster/ DJ and 2 years later I was passing face cream samples at the Americana mall. However because of this job, I made a great connection and long story short I became a business manager for Chanel Beauty in Beverly Hills. 4 hard working years later, at the age of 40, I decided to leave this industry behind me to become a makeup artist. I started doing jobs for absolutely nothing and taking pictures of my girlfriends to start my IG. I was saying yes to anyone and started working 7 days a week and driving 70-240 miles a day. Every day I was telling to myself: “all I need is one” one client to believe in me. That client is now my great friend Amanda Kloots who got me at CBS. Today I am a union MUA working for “The Talk” and I can’t be happier 🙂

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

WisdomeLA for an immersive art experience and dancing meditation.

Petros restaurant in Manhattan beach for greek food.

Santa Monica pier for rides at the fun park, ice-cream and a sunset with our feet in the sand.

San Diego for the weekend. Beaches, gay restaurants and a good manicure 💅🏻
