We had the good fortune of connecting with Tulio Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tulio, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I would love to be revered as one of the best Photographers in Southern California. The go-to guy for photography, the pro people hope never retires. I want my photography to become art on people’s wall at home, I want my photography on display in businesses, restaurants, etc… I want people to stare at my photography with admiration and place themselves in it subconsciously and play out a story within their thoughts.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hard work and risk taking to say the least but the most important aspect is to “stay hungry” for creativity. I know I am headed the right direction because I always seem to feel like time is running out and sleep is wasted time that can be better used being creative. Although I know sleep is important to refresh but it is a feeling I sense and rarely had when I worked for somebody else. I love to have something to look forward to and this is the feeling I have 90% of the time since becoming full time pro Photographer. I give my best to every shot I take and edit afterwards.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
El Mercadito in ELA is a fun place to have a margarita and have a great dinner with live mariachi music playing in the background. Love driving down PCH toward Malibu, then run into Mulholland and drive up the hill toward Calabasas. Your get Landscape, Sea and Air within an hour drive with stops every other mile for photos or people watching.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to Instagram because every follow and like further pushes me to do better in my art and learn to “stay hungry”
