We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty Kranz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ty, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I am first generation born in so called United States through my maternal side. I was born on Ute Land so called Colorado. My family, being from Mexico and growing up in a hyper religious environment, spirituality and religion was always a blend and forced upon me. After several beautiful, transitioning, difficult life experiences, as well as coming out as Queer to my Mexican family, it led me on a path of inner reflection, discovery and deeper understanding. Being raised to be in tune with the Earth and ground beneath us and my abuelita always calling me “Manos de Angel” which translates to “Angel hands” It stuck with me. Fast forward, I found myself studying energy, and became a certified Usui Reiki Master Practitioner.

I didn’t apply myself due to lack of confidence and fear of the unknown. After several journal entries, meditations and meeting the right crowd, I was offered an opportunity to work in collaboration with a nonprofit organization Youth Seen to provide free 1:1 Reiki sessions to the 2SLGBTQIA+ Black, Brown, Indigenous communities.

Long story short, the most important factor behind my success has been to trust that I will apply myself and follow/honor what I feel in the moment.

If I felt not ready, I made sure to prepare myself to feel ready. If I felt scared or nervous, I established my environment to work and heal on those sensations.

I honor myself, always, even in the toughest of times, I trust myself. Which leads me to success regardless of when the success May present itself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The work I do is not easy. Being a non-traditional Usui Reiki Master Practitioner and honoring my lineage in my practice requires constant reflection and deconstructing of mindset.

I’m a community assistant in healing unresolved or stagnant energies, seeking the source and moving the energy to find life elsewhere, to release and express.
Sandalphon Reiki offers in-person and virtual sessions and with both I offer binaural frequency therapy throughout the session.

I’ve had people try to compare it to therapy and to clarify, it is not therapy and I am not a professional therapist. However, some folk do identify with Reiki sessions to feel aligned and seek clarity again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would suggest Malibu near the beach to relax; Twin Flame Productions in the Los Angeles Arts District, for shopping and Madre Tierra Express for delicious vegan Mexican food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to give the biggest of shout-outs to one of my best friends Gabrielle Rodriguez who offered me this amazing collaborative opportunity with Youth Seen!

I also have to give a huge shoutout to my abuelita for reaching me her intuitive ways and how to honor myself.

Another shoutout would have to be my partner, Tesha, who is my biggest supporter, encourager and the one who provides me with the space to practice, efficiently.
