Meet Tyler Boden | Solar Energy Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Boden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At the time I started my business, I had worked for a solar installer for 6 years, and I was unhappy with how confined I was to using a certain set of equipment that the installer used. I opened my company so that I could be independent in my solar sales process, and represent multiple installers with various offerings. This has allowed me the flexibility to serve a wider base of customers, and give people what they are looking for when adding solar to their property.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Taking a moment to talk about something outside of my business, I’d like to share that I am an avid volunteer in the community of San Clemente. I’m a member of the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce and San Clemente Rotary Club, and I am an active participant in the current issues of the City of San Clemente. I mention these things, not only because they have helped me build my brand as the ‘solar guy’ of San Clemente, but they have given me an incredible amount of gratification in my life. When I started volunteering with the San Clemente Rotary Club, I was admittedly most interested in the potential business I could garner from the group. After a year or so, however, I realized how life-altering having the mindset of “Service Above Self” can be. This commitment to service helped me shift my focus from “how can this help me” to “how can I help,” which has afforded me the opportunity to make an impact on my local community in various ways. What came after was a reputation as a person who one can rely on to get things done. As a result, when people think of solar, they always think of me. My commitment to service has not only changed my life personally, but has also yielded an incredible referral network for my business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a lover of my hometown, San Clemente, I would take my best friend on a tour of the historic and beautiful landmarks in town. First, we would take a walk down Avenida Del Mar, which is lined with shops and restaurants, and leads down to the San Clemente Pier. Before arriving at the pier, though, we would stop at Casa Romantica, which is a beautiful villa that was built by the founder of San Clemente, Ole Hanson. After the walk down memory lane, we would continue the journey down the hill to the San Clemente pier – stopping for a pause as the road turns and the ocean view becomes visible, which is the most beautiful view in town. After a walk down the pier, we would head back up Avenida Del Mar to wine and dine at my favorite restaurant in town: Pronto Cucina Italiana. After that, we’d head to a classy cocktail lounge called Jane for a night cap. If there were more time in the day, we would of course take a drive down to San Onofre State Beach, to soak in the sun at one of the most iconic beaches in California, and hopefully grab a surf.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this Shoutout to the San Clemente Entrepreneurs Club, which has been instrumental in the development of my business over the past year. We are a group of young entrepreneurs that challenges each other to push our businesses to the next level – setting goals and holding each other accountable to them each month. The person who nominated me for this Shoutout is a part of the group, and I’d like to thank Cody Kemby of Kook-Off mineral sunscreen remover for the shoutout!
