Meet Valeria Munoz Reyes | Actor & Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Valeria Munoz Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valeria, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose a creative path because I’ve always felt that the stories we believe, the ones we’re told and the ones we tell ourselves, quietly shape everything around us. They influence how we see each other, what we believe is possible, and even what we think we deserve. Art has this strange, powerful way of revealing those stories.
For me, art is more than just self-expression; it’s a way to ask better questions. It’s a window into other lives, other worlds, other possibilities. I’ve always been drawn to that: how a single image, song, or narrative can shift your perspective, unsettle you, comfort you, or make you feel less alone. There’s something really human in that exchange, and something deeply hopeful, too.
Pursuing an artistic career felt like a way to be part of that dialogue. Not to just reflect the world as it is, but to explore what it could be. To create and show narratives for people to see differently, to feel, and maybe to carry that with them in a way that ripples outward. That possibility is what keeps me doing the work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an actor and filmmaker, storytelling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started acting as a child, and it taught me how to connect with people and how to step into different perspectives. Over time, I wanted to tell stories from behind the camera as well. That’s what led me to filmmaking, and I’m now in post-production of my first short film, which has been an incredibly exciting journey.
This path hasn’t been easy. One of the most challenging, and strangely rewarding-aspects of this career, is its unpredictability. There’s rarely a clear roadmap, and that can be terrifying. But I’ve learned that as artists, it’s part of our job to move toward the unknown. We explore it, sit with it, and bring back something that others can see, feel, and connect with. That’s where the real magic happens.
I care about exploring people’s inner worlds. I’m interested in the gray areas, those moments that aren’t easily defined but say something about who we are. If there’s one thing I hope people take from my work, it’s the reminder that there’s always more than one way to see a story. Empathy, curiosity, and courage can change everything.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting LA. I’d definitely want to give them a mix of classic LA magic and some of my personal favorite spots. We’d start off with a visit to the Griffith Observatory, there’s something about seeing the whole city laid out in front of you that feels enchanting.
One day would be for hiking Runyon Canyon, catching some sun and views, followed by a chill afternoon at the beach. I’d make sure we hit The Last Bookstore, too. It’s such a special place; you can spend hours just wandering through the place.
We would absolutely see a movie at Los Feliz Theatre. And at least one night would be for live theatre, maybe a show at the Pasadena Playhouse, The LOFT theatre or something surprising. There’s so much happening on stage in L.A.
As for food, I’d say let’s not plan too tightly. Part of the fun is discovering new places, trying that spot on the corner we’ve never heard of, or saying yes to a recommendation from friends or someone we meet along the way. L.A.’s food world is so rich, it’s worth exploring with an open mind (and stomach).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As it’s written in the question. We all have supporters and people that walk with us, therefore I want to thank my family, those closest to me: my mom, dad and brother, whose constant love and support have been my foundation. My wider circle of loved ones: My family in Mexico, California and my friends-my chosen family. And last but not least, my teachers; their knowledge and support will always be with me and in my path. Thank you for your presence, your care, and for making the world feel a little brighter. I carry all of you with me in everything I do.
