We had the good fortune of connecting with Viktoria Vennice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viktoria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am the Queen of Risk taking! My family teases me and tells me Im like a cat because I have 9+ lives. I have quit every low and mid level corporate job I ever had because of the effects It would take on my mental, spiritual and even physical health. The risk factor that many of those choices have in common, is that most times, I did NOT have another solid job or opportunity available when I would choose to exit. I simply knew that I could not be in that environment and not access my full potential as a creative artist. Even when people expressed their concern, I knew that the vision and talent that God gave me was mine and mine only. The Risk that I have taken in my life have allowed me to meet amazing people, enjoy lucrative and life changing opportunities and ultimately, the risks have allowed me to now, live my life abroad which is something I have spoken into existence since I was around 12 years old. Every Risk may not be successful, but the alternative is worse. I don’t want to leave this earth with any what if’s.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As someone who has been an artist my whole life, I don’t know what life is like without music. It is an intricate part of my existence and I would not be me without it. That energy and authenticity comes across in my music. I write about Real Life situations and Relatability because I love people and Life. It’s hard to rock with what you don’t know so I sing about what I know and what people go through; Heartbreak, True Love or Being torn between two lovers. I have music for ALL of THAT!
I have been writing and singing since I was 5 years old and like most, I started in Church as both my parents are ministers. Singing and performing is easy for me as I have been doing it my whole life but there are definitely challenges in this industry but the key is to not let anything negative to distract you from your goal. Allow the no’s to fuel it and watch how they start to turn into yes’s. Thats the most important lesson I have learned YET!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although We are currently enjoying life here in the Dominican Republic, if I had a friend visiting LA, I would be taking them to every Ramen spot in the city so we could compare and contrast. Open mics and Karaoke every night (the can sleep when they get home) lol and Of course some cool dispensaries because even if they don’t partake, you gotta admit that if your coming from a place that does not have actual grocery stores from cannabis, it would be cool to see it in real life and not just movies.
I love going to LA LIVE at night and just people watching and smelling the many aromas of local eateries in the area and I would surely treat them to pancakes at the Pantry. Hopefully one day soon, something like that can happen for us all. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d Like to Thank God from whom all my blessings flow from and My Ancestors for their Resilience and Strength and Continued Guidance.
