Meet Vinnie Wya | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vinnie Wya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VINNIE, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Seattle, Washington. Northgate to be specific (yessirski). I wouldn’t be who I am without where I grew up man. I think growing up in that environment I was exposed to a lot of shit that gave me great perspective on my life from a young age. My journey in music started here, rapping with the homies in the hotbox or whatever, but Seattle was also a great place to foster my creativity and really learn how to express myself the way I want to. I think that there is something to be said about growing up in a place with such little sun throughout the year as well. To put it simply you have to learn how to bloom without it and I really feel like I can figure my shit out anywhere now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is me. The music I make tells my story in a way that only I could. I am really proud of the music I’m putting out in 2025. This music to me feels like 25 years in the making and it feels so authentically me. I feel like I’ve spent the past 3 years sharpening my sword and learning how to make better music and I’m in such a creatively free place right now it just all feels RIGHT. Through my music and particularly the music that’s coming out this year I feel like I’ve become the most pure and authentic version of VINNIE. I worked a lot to get here, but I won’t say it was hard. The company I keep is the best and I love what I do so it’s hard to complain or say it was difficult. There was a lot of mental battles but at the end of the day it’s all part of the process.
I really had to learn to block out the noise this past year, my achilles heel was letting the outside get to me and get in the way of my art and how I created, shedding that struggle has been so freeing.
I don’t know if I have anything to say to the world yet, I think it will all come in due time. But I want Seattle to know that I’m bout to put on, and I want my people to know that they’re who I do it for and it’s us and nobody else !!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I got to give a shoutout to my best friend and older brother, Ryan Caraveo. Ryan gives me so much mf game it’s ridiculous lmao. Aside from any of that shit though, he has always believed in me and encouraged me to take this shit as far as I can. Aside from career stuff he is also just the coolest older brother, mentor and homie I could ask for. I love that mf!
I also gotta show love to Jake Crocker. Jake took me in years and years ago cause he saw something in me and we have been rocking ever since. He has developed me and my artistry in ways I couldn’t have imagined when I first started out. Him and I have seen so much shit together and grown so much as artists but also as people and I am extremely grateful I can call him my friend.
Last but certainly not least, I gotta shoutout Dom Dodd. Dom is going to be a household name as far as directors go and I don’t say that lightly. That’s also my best friend man, him and I have been together damn near every day for like 3 years. The way that Dom can articulate my thoughts visually is something super special. He is also just hard mf worker. I see that boy day in day out shooting, editing, coloring, doing sound design like EVERYTHING man.
Those are my guys man without the three of them there isn’t VINNIE WYA.
