We had the good fortune of connecting with Vinny Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vinny, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, it never felt like a moment where I sat down and decided, ‘I’m going to start a business.’ It’s just always been in me. Whether it was selling Pokémon games in elementary school, running a sticker business in middle school, or pitching a solar panel idea to Nissan after high school, it’s always been about finding ways to build something from nothing.

I grew up watching my parents work three jobs to create opportunities, and that left a huge impression on me. I knew early that if I wanted to create the kind of life I pictured, I had to bet on myself. Starting my own business wasn’t really a decision — it was more of a path that kept unfolding naturally the more I kept pushing toward it. Seeing the modern soda category grow and grow, I truly felt the next generation was neglected within the space. And that’s exactly what NO CAP! Soda Pop is, a soda pop for the #NextGen.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets my family apart is that we’re actually insane — in the best way. We got here through pure, sickening, almost psychotic drive to be the best at whatever we do.

Before starting NO CAP! Soda Pop, that drive was spent building other people’s businesses. Taking the leap to bet on ourselves only made that fire stronger.

It definitely hasn’t been easy. But one thing we always come back to is this: no matter what happens, we’ll figure it out. That mindset has gotten us through every challenge so far.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned? No matter what you build, there’s always going to be someone talking s***. You have to block it out and stay locked on the bigger picture.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting, I’d say let’s keep it simple — load up on some Uncrustables, a case of NO CAP! Soda Pop, and a camera. Then spend the week chasing the real Southern California scene: surf, moto, snow, skate, BMX, MTB — all of it.

We’d hit the local spots, find hidden gems, and scout the real talent nobody’s talking about yet. The goal would be simple — have fun, soak it all in, and if we find someone special, sign them straight to NO CAP! and support our backyard the way it deserves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to my parents and faith in God. They had me young, worked three jobs each, and gave me a front-row seat to what real hard work looks like. No excuses, just figuring it out.
