We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Ruvalcaba and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vivian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business with my cousin Esme, my goal was to continue working my 9-5 as a nurse while gradually building a book of business. I understood it would take time and dedication, but I was determined to make it work. A major driving force behind this decision was watching my dad’s journey. He has spent his entire life working for himself, but unfortunately, he lacked the financial education to save and invest for retirement.

Now, at 74, he still has to work because he didn’t have the guidance or knowledge to plan for his future. Seeing him in this situation breaks my heart and fuels my commitment to helping others.

I’m determined to ensure that people understand the importance of financial education. My mission is to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to retire comfortably and confidently, knowing that their hard work will truly pay off. No one should have to face the uncertainty my dad is experiencing, and I’m dedicated to making a difference in as many lives as possible.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is built on the foundation of helping people understand and secure their financial futures, focusing on life insurance and financial strategies. What sets me apart is my deep passion for educating and empowering individuals, especially those who didn’t have access to financial education growing up. My mission is to help people protect their hard-earned income and plan for a secure future, so they don’t face situations like my father, who has worked tirelessly his entire life but lacked the knowledge to save for retirement.

I’m most proud of the impact I’ve been able to make—not just in my own life but in the lives of others. Watching people gain confidence in their financial decisions and take meaningful steps toward securing their futures fills me with purpose. It’s especially rewarding to see young adults embrace financial planning early on, knowing they’re laying the groundwork for long-term stability and success.

Getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. It has taken resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief in my purpose. Along the way, I faced profound challenges, including a near-death experience when my heart suddenly stopped. That moment changed everything for me. It forced me to reflect deeply on my purpose and gave me a second chance to live with intention. From that day forward, I committed to not only living fully but to helping others do the same by providing them with the financial tools to protect their dreams. That experience taught me to rise, dust myself off, and keep moving forward—always guided by faith and gratitude for God’s presence in my life.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success is not instant, and resilience is the key to achieving it. There were moments of doubt and times when I felt like giving up, but I pushed through. I’ve also learned the value of having a strong support system. My cousin and business partner, Esme, has been by my side through every step of this journey, and my mentors, Mario and Franny Arrizon, have provided the guidance and leadership I aspire to emulate.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my story is one of resilience, passion, and an unrelenting commitment to helping others. My goal isn’t just to sell financial products—it’s to provide peace of mind, education, and a pathway to financial independence for anyone ready to take control of their future. My work is about making a lasting difference in people’s lives, helping them protect their dreams, and empowering them to create a secure and fulfilling future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, we’d kick things off with a chill day in Long Beach. We’d start with breakfast at The Breakfast Bar, then rent bikes for a breezy ride along the beach, soaking in the sun and feeling like we’re in a movie montage. As the day winds down, we’d catch the sunset with cocktails at Tantalum—because nothing beats a fancy drink with a stunning ocean view.

Day two would be all about history and sightseeing, starting with a visit to the Queen Mary (and maybe spotting a ghost if we’re lucky). After that, we’d hike up Signal Hill for panoramic views of the city, then dive into some culture at the Museum of Latin American Art and the Long Beach Museum of Art. It’s the perfect excuse to act a little cultured for the day.

Next, we’d dedicate a day to Alamitos Beach for some classic beach vibes—biking, lounging in the sun, and ending the night with s’mores around a cozy bonfire. We’d also take a quick day trip to Venice Beach to soak in the quirky energy of the boardwalk, snack on some local treats, and ride bikes along the coast.

For the grand finale, we’d head to downtown LA to indulge in its vibrant food and culture scene. Grand Central Market would be the first stop for a food lover’s dream, followed by The Broad Museum for a touch of art and inspiration. We’d wrap up the week with a walk through the bustling streets of LA, soaking in the energy and creating unforgettable memories. It’d be a week full of laughter, adventure, and sun-soaked fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my immigrant parents, who worked tirelessly and sacrificed so much to provide me with the best opportunities. You taught me to never give up and to always pursue my dreams, no matter how difficult the journey. Your unwavering strength and perseverance have been the foundation of my success, and I am eternally grateful for everything you’ve instilled in me.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to my incredible mentors, Mario and Franny Arrizon, for their exceptional leadership in the financial world. Your guidance, wisdom, and dedication have paved the way for so many of us. Your example inspires me to grow, lead, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others every day.

Over the last eight years, I’ve faced immense adversity, including a near-death experience that forever changed my perspective on life. Despite the challenges, I’ve learned to rise, dust myself off, and keep moving forward. Through it all, God has been my anchor, giving me the strength to persevere. His presence reminds me that no matter how tough the struggle, I am never alone.
