Meet Viviana Chacon | Architect & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Viviana Chacon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viviana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me, entrepreneurship has always been a combination of passion, curiosity and the need to create. As an architect, I’ve always had a deep connection to design and the importance of every detail, whether in a physical space or an idea. When I started my cupcake business, it wasn’t just about baking; it was about designing an entire brand, from packaging to advertising to social media. I wanted every detail to tell a story, for everything to align and reflect my vision.
The same thing happened with my illustration project, Vivi Ilustra; it was born out of the need to express myself and share my experiences with others, and it was amazing to see how people identified with it.
This creative impulse led me to explore 3D modeling for immersive spaces, where I learned to play with textures, sensations and light to make each space unique. How a space can transform an experience is something I’m deeply passionate about, and working in digital environments has given me a new perspective on how to tell stories and how design can shape emotions.
I’ve always believed that if I’m passionate about something, it’s worth trying, even if it involves risks. As an immigrant, I’ve learned to start from scratch and adapt, but I’ve never lost sight of my love for design and creativity. For me, entrepreneurship is not just about having a business; it’s a way to bring my ideas to life and find happiness in the process and that’s what motivates me to keep going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, it would be amazing because I haven’t seen him in a long time, (Juli I hope to see you soon, I miss youuuu).
But yes, I would want to make sure he has an amazing experience in Los Angeles, combining our passion for art, music and food with some of the most iconic places in the city.
I think the itinerary would be as follows:
Downtown art exploration, eat at Grand Central Market, visit The Broad and MOCA, stroll through Little Tokyo and Arts District.
Stroll Venice Beach, explore the murals and street artists, take photos and enjoy the Santa Monica Pier.
You can’t miss seeing Disneyland and Universal Studios.
And finally, explore unique neighborhoods and scenic views, such as visiting The Getty or The Huntington Library, Melrose Avenue, walking to the Griffith Observatory, visiting LACMA and the iconic urban lamps.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my parents, Lala and Ismael, for teaching me that nothing is enough and that one must always aspire for more. Their drive and ambition have shaped the way I am and thanks to them I see the world differently. To my husband, Matt, thank you for always supporting me and pushing me to take leaps even when I was scared, you are always in the front row applauding my accomplishments. To my current boss, Lou, I am beyond grateful, thank you for believing in me especially at times when I doubted myself. And the incredible people who have come into my life in the last year. you all add light to my life and make me shine brighter. Thank you all.
