Meet Wesam Samour | Pharmacist, Entrepreneur, & Healthcare Education Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wesam Samour and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wesam, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My journey to founding Fillcera Pharmacy was driven by a deep-rooted passion for improving healthcare accessibility and patient outcomes. Having worked in various pharmacy settings across the United States, I observed firsthand the challenges patients face in navigating the complex healthcare system.
I saw a clear opportunity to create a pharmacy model that prioritizes patient needs and offers a more personalized approach. By combining my expertise as a pharmacist with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, I aimed to build a pharmacy that not only dispenses medications but also empowers patients to take control of their health.
Fillcera was born out of the desire to break down barriers, improve health literacy, and provide equitable pharmacy services to underserved communities. Our mission is to create a healthcare experience that is patient-centered, accessible, and focused on overall well-being.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fillcera is more than just a pharmacy; it’s a mission to improve lives and communities. We believe in the power of giving back and fostering a healthier, more equitable world. Our commitment to our community is what sets us apart.
I’m incredibly proud of building a business grounded in these values. It hasn’t been easy. Balancing the complex demands of the pharmacy industry, from legal and clinical to technological and supply chain, has been a constant challenge. But every hurdle has been an opportunity to innovate and find solutions that benefit our patients.
We’ve learned that success isn’t just about financial growth; it’s about making a positive impact. By providing accessible, high-quality pharmacy services to everyone, regardless of their background, we’re breaking down barriers and empowering individuals to take control of their health.
Ultimately, I want the world to see Fillcera as a symbol of hope and possibility. We’re demonstrating that business can be a force for good. By prioritizing the health and well-being of our community, we’re not just filling prescriptions – we’re building a healthier future together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Dallas for a week, I’d make sure to show them the best the city has to offer, focusing on a mix of cultural experiences, great food, and exciting attractions.
We’d start our days with breakfast at popular spots like Ellen’s for Southern comfort food or Ascension Coffee for a modern twist. For coffee lovers, Haraz is a must-visit, and I’d also reach out to Diaspora Coffee Co. to see where their cart is serving that week.
Lunch would be an adventure with stops at Rickey’s Hot Chicken for some spicy delights or Alzarrad for delicious Mediterranean cuisine.
Dinner plans would include reservations at Darna for exquisite Middle Eastern dishes and Terra for a delightful farm-to-table experience. For evenings, we’d explore the Dallas Museum of Art, stroll through the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, or catch a game at the American Airlines Center.
Throughout the week, we’d make sure to visit the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, take a day trip to Fort Worth to experience the Stockyards and the Kimbell Art Museum, and enjoy outdoor activities like kayaking on White Rock Lake or visiting the Dallas Zoo.
Each day would be packed with unique experiences and the best of Dallas’ culinary scene, ensuring an unforgettable trip.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m incredibly grateful for the support system that has shaped my journey. My parents instilled in me the foundation for success, and I owe a significant debt of gratitude to mentors like Dr. Jay Mataria, Dr. Randy Steers, and Dr. Kwaku Acheampong for their invaluable guidance in pharmacy and technology. The unwavering support of friends like Omar Abu Zahara and Kamel Yaaqbah has been instrumental in navigating challenges and maintaining perspective. Their contributions have been essential to building Fillcera Pharmacy.
