We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Eaton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The number one goal of the brand Good Vibes Anytime, is to help deliver more good vibes into the community in ways that are easily approachable by any and all! We create natural, good vibe raising’ products that help elevate your vibration, set intentions, and call in what you desire most. Our social media offers daily does of good vibes inspo with positive quotes, featured artists, playlists and more. We are currently developing our Good Vibes community program, where we will partner with a variety of creators and community members to bring more positive, uplifting and philanthropic content to our users and society as a whole.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Spiritual and personal development is something I’ve been into for nearly a decade now. It’s definitely become more “trendy” as of late, which I think is a great thing! The more people that are becoming more conscious and intentional in this world, the better, In my opinion, the common voice and type of products, services and tools in the spiritual wellness space haven’t really evolved much in the last decade until recently. Even still, the overall style and tone of these brands have all been very similar. While lady Light, Love and Namaste is nice and all (we still love her!) Good Vibes Anytime is more like your fun, bold, super supportive and loving, yet tell-ya-like-it is big sister. I’m most excited about how accessible our tools are for anyone, no matter where they are in their spiritual practice. They’re great for newbies and seasoned pros, and don’t have to be used the same by one person to the next. Our aromatherapy sprays can be used to hydrate the face, awaken the senses for meditation, or intention setting, but also to freshen up a facemask or pillowcase. Our crystal sets are great for helping call in what you need most, but also bring in a little nature and beauty to the home or office. GVA launched November 2020. It hasn’t been easy launching a new company during a pandemic, but the time and space offered me no excuse but to go for and create something I’m truly passionate about. And as it grows, our goal is to help deliver more Good Vibes into the world with our products, content, and the Good Vibin’ community we are cultivating. It’s taken a long time for me to shed the traditional thinking of what type of work and career trajectory is a plan for success. I’ve spent a lot of my life not being fully open to or having solid confidence in my creative side. I certainly never thought it could ever be the foundation of my career. My limiting beliefs on what I was capable of kept me in an industry I had outgrown and in roles that provided me with little purpose. It took a global pandemic and a huge hit to my prior business to finally follow my heart. The more time and energy I invest into learning more about myself, the more clarity I have in knowing how I can best contribute not only to my growing brand, but to the community and world as a whole. Explore your curiosities! Find what lights you up most, then use that passion as a tool to propel you into finding your purpose. Seek out the resources that will help cultivate the tools you need to be guided by your own intuition. Surround yourself with passionate, positive, supportive people that get who you are and are committed to the same process. These tools will help you follow your own guidance, desires, and inspiration without the need for outside approval. . Adapting and following these practices has been and continues to be the most powerful and positive contributor to my own success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love living in OC! I’m in the city of Costa Mesa in very close proximity to Newport Beach and several other lovely spots! I enjoy exploring nature, the beach, eating all the food, and being involved in my community. I enjoy having friends visit. There are so many amazing places to check out. I’m a big foodie, so lots of eating is always on the agenda! I was never a big donut person until I first tried Sidecar. It’s like no donuts I’ve ever had and sets the bar extremely high. They make an eggs benedict donut that’s an experience like no other. Inside a soft, but not sweet donut is a perfectly poached egg, basil infused hollandaise, and prosciutto. It’s topped with a fresh basil leaf sticking out of the top. It’s totally gorgeous and one of the coolest things I’ve ever eaten. They’ve got rotating monthly flavors and an arsenal of their classic faves. My top two classics are Butte + Salt and Huckleberry. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait! Outpost Kitchen (now with 2 Costa Mesa locations) is an Australian owned modern cafe, with dynamic, yet clean food and an open air, Aussie beach vibe. Toast is a killer brunch spot with inventive and thoughtful takes on standard faves. My number one dish to order here is the Orange Chicken with Black Sesame Waffle. It’s like nothing you’ve ever had, yet so amazingly familiar. One of my favorite dinner spots (and great for visiting dads!) is La Cave Steakhouse. It has been there since ’62 and shows no sign of slowin’. The restaurant + bar is much like a dark cave (hence the name) with deep red leather booths, dim red lighting, and a classic, old school steakhouse feel. Choose your cut of meat from that evening’s rolling cart, and vibe on whichever live music performer is on that night. I live 3 miles from Newport Pier, so visiting the beach is a must! Bikes along the boardwalk and a cold beer at Blackies (complete with a peanut shell covered floor) is typically on the agenda. The crowd is a mix of old school locals, surfers, and adventurous tourists. Tootin’ around the Newport harbor in a duffy boat is a fan fave as well! Boats can be rented by the hour with space for 12 and as much goodies as you can bring with you. It’s a fun way to be on the water without having to encounter those big ocean waves. A 20 min scenic drive north to Laguna Beach is always a good idea. The beautiful views of rolling hills and ocean shore make for a great journey. If I have guests, a mimosa on the rooftop of Mozambique overlooking the ocean is an essential pit stop. Westside Costa Mesa has got some great spots for nighttime fun. I love live music and queer culture, so having two of the best places for these on the same block makes a night out easy. Strut is a gay club and cocktail lounge that also has an amazing drag brunch on weekends. Inside is modern, sexy and fun, complete with one of those mirror light rooms perfect for instagram! The Wayfarer one block down, is a go to spot for live music. They host the best cover bands (90s are my #1) as well as a variety of other bands and themed nights. To balance out all the food, drink and running about, I get my zen on with yoga or meditation. My favorite place for community, connection, and slowing down is Behind the Lids in CM. It’s a healing collective that hosts all kinds of spiritual practice events. They host guided meditations, sound baths, reiki healing, breathwork, educational classes and more. It’s a lovey space to be in and always leave feeling more grounded. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been so many wonderful teachers, mentors, coaches, and friends that have helped get me to where I am right now. I gotta show love to my best friend Lindsay, who has unwaveringly and graciously guided and supported me through so many seasons, my sweet Momma for always being there–even for the 3am phone calls, and my Good Vibes Anytime counterpart, business partner and friend, Davey. I couldn’t do this without you! One of the first books I ever read (and reread and reread) that changed my perspective of myself and what I was capable of is “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero. A blunt, of-the-times take on how to quit doubting yourself and start creating the life you most desire. It a powerful, fun, witty guide, I highly recommend!
