We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make/ am currently making is remaining consistent through it all. Of course it’s easy to be consistent on a good day. It’s the bad days that require you to reach deep inside and pull out the will to keep going. Having to push through on bad, sad, moody days is the real challenge. I used to think it was all about conquering fear until i realized that we’re all scared, we’re doing it anyway.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So our brand is bLAck x LA. We are excited to continue releasing our products and growing our business. Currently we sell Hula Hoops and Milestone hats. We plan to add more items. It was super hard getting to this point. I’ve learned that nothing is easy and not everything is for everyone. My journey is my journey. I’m super proud of myself for making it this far and not giving up along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my imaginary traveling best friend to brunch/lunch almost every day at some of our hot spots in LA like Tempo Castaway, court cafe, the griddle, the waffle, roscoes. Activities would be hiking at culver stairs, runyon, palisades. Drives to the beach to sit on the rocks and watch the waves. People watch on the boardwalk. skating, catch a show. attend a game.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Other than my own circle of friends/family who I grind hard with on a daily, I dedicate my shoutout to everyone that are ahead of me on this path. The people I watched go from 1 supporter to millions. Supa from new orleans was a big inspiration. Watching her go from interacting on her account to a multi million dollar make up company. All the go getters who used social media as a base to start a successful company. Simone Shepard, Tabitha Brown, Jessica Dupart, Kev Fredricks, Keraun Harris, Tokyo Vanity and so many more to name.
