We had the good fortune of connecting with William Jeffery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, what matters most to you?
I think the value or principle most valuable to me consistency, doing something well once is good but greatness is built on being good every time over time. I feel consistency is the foundation for any healthy relationship be it in business or any other area of life. Consistency and trust work hand in hand, the more consistent you are the easier it is for people to build trust and once there is trust anything is possible. If Ive learned anything in my life so far it’s consistency over everything, it’s the foundation for sustainable success and longevity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My wife and I are currently proud owners of We Rock The Spectrum Studio City (a children’s play place) however, the journey to get here was a unique one. I originally worked in tech for a little over 10 years prior to acquiring the business, I was laid off and looking to transition careers. Tragedy often breeds opportunity, while I had unexpectedly lost my job I was given a reasonable severance which ultimately allowed me to invest in the play space. This of course was an exciting opportunity, it also brought it’s own unique set of challenges and learning experiences as I had never owned my own business nor worked with children that were not my own. Fortunately my wife has enough experience for the both of us as she previously owned her own children’s dance studio as well as taught preschool. I leaned on her expertise with the children a great deal starting out, as well as realizing that I had managed to pickup some useful skills during my time in tech. As my comfort with the children grew we were able to create a good balance allowing me to use my customer service/management skills focusing mostly on the day to day, and my wife focusing on the business as whole making sure that we are functioning and growing optimally. We have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time, I would attribute this to taking things one day at a time and not letting ourselves become overwhelmed. Owning a business is a lot like living in an old house there is always something and we have found the best way to tackle a never ending to do list is one item at a time. If there is one thing I would like the world to know about us and our brand is, we are family owned/operated and we are getting better everyday!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is tough there are so many different things to do in L.A. Im not sure where I’d start, I guess I would hit the big attractions first starting with Disneyland as that is easily and all day activity. Id want to hit Hollywood as well, have to see the walk of fame and all the hollywood stars, there are also some good restaurants and bars over that way ( would definitely want to do sushi at some point). Spend some time at the beaches Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu. We would have to go to a Laker game, which gives an opportunity to explore the new and improved downtown LA. With trips like this I always feel it’s often more about the people involved than the place itself, so I’d end the trip with something personal maybe a hike and a nice dinner before heading off to deal with the chaos that is LAX.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are a family run operation so if I had to dedicate this to anyone it would be my wife and kids, it takes a great deal of patience, understanding and hard work to keep things running smoothly. The MVP definitely goes to my wife, she runs her own social media business, works full time, runs the gym all while still finding time to be mom to our 2 children. The kiddos get honorable mention, they are too young to work of course (Jameson 8, Pippa 9) however, they help out as much as 2 kids under 10 can and most importantly they give minimal pushback when we have to spend more time at the gym than anticipated. Running a business is difficult enough on it’s own adding your family adds another layer to an already challenging journey. Fortunately for us we are able to embark on this journey together meeting the challenges along the way as a unit as oppose to individually. So I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my wife Katie and our children Jameson and Pippa, the 3 best people I know!
